Widescreen laptop cooler.... for my ass.

You heard me, this summer heat is disgustifying. I'm sitting around in my underpants and my balls are sweating like mad I need a perferated seat with fans mounted to it, or some type of gitch vent.

I guess my baby (9400) could use one too, but they all seem so crapy. Only the coolmaster's are wide enough but theyre not long enough! the back of the laptop will hang over the edge... useless...

Maby instead I'll get an AC and some flexible ducting keep my GPU and my testicles ice cold.

Wow, thats an awsome mod! Not one for me though, I have a tendancy to improvise in haphazzard ways, water would be the death of my laptop.

Maby I should look into a peltier solution. It would almost certainly require more than usb power though and then I'd have to find converters and all sorts of crap (though an old psu would be perfect). But I have plans for the only spare psu already (gona power a car amp so I can have some decent bass in my room )

I'm still in awe over that water cooler....

Well, I took your advice and had a "cold shower", well a cool shower... well a luke warm shower. I always wondered what that big basiny thing next to the pisser was.

Anywya, i wager that in 15 minutes my nuts are going to be sweaty and itchy again. Something that girls just cant understand (i assume youre a girl, otherwise you'd understand and wouldnt be uppity about this)

Well pinko, glad you have a sense of humor but it sure stinks just like an asshole. Take another cold/warm/lukewarm shower and call your proctologist in the morning. BTW, take the laptop with you in the shower. That will solve your cooling problem.

Do the laptop coolers actually drop CPU/GPU temps?

god of war, thoes are the wide screen coolers I mentioned earlier, that little palm rest int he front makes them to short and the back feet dangle off the end.

well, i have one of those coolermaster 17"... they're actually quite nice, and the aluminum just 'feels' cold just by looking at it.. alas, the 9400's little rubber feet prevent the cool aluminum from making contact at all with the surface, except at the very front, in the area where pinko is complaining.. (which is actually a bonus IMHO, since that's where the 2 vents reside and even if they did make contact all the way it's nice that they're left open, so the air can be sucked in freely... I think my next 'project' will be to cut small holes in the aluminum where the rubber feet are to make it 'make contact' and see if it cools better.. other than that, it lets the 9400 sit at a perfect typing angle..

No, I'm a man. I don't want to hear about your hygiene, or in this case, lack there of, on a forum about computers.

And, whoever negged me for my comment, and didn't leave a name, you'll get yours. You cowards who don't sign there name need to grow a pair, even if they are nasty.

The Chillco BallMaster. <g> Seriously, the coolers are designed to pull hot air off the notebook, so make sure the air is moving in the right direction. You could singe the hair off those puppies.

A friend of mine claimed that the ones he tried did not help. He built his own.

There's also an Antec fan that powers up via USB. It's fairly efficient. You could rig one or two to a support platform. They have a pass-thru for the USB connect, but hooking two would get you a precarious obstacle sticking out of your computer. Better to use a short USB extender cable. And/or one of those Belkin USB swivel adaptors.

Maby I'll reconsider the coolmaster after all. I was going to get a titan serina, bought one on ebay that was listed as free shiping to canada, once I bought it they wanted $13 for shiping, ended up getting a refund. Anyway, it was a nice all aluminum cooler that was almost completly sloted, I had planed on drilling holes for the feet so it can act as a heatsink. Even with free shiping it was too expensive for a cooler though. Stefonada, how much overhang do you get on that coolmaster?
