Dell MediaDirect w/ E1505 - accidentally deleted - Page 2

Hey there,

I'm talking about the boot.ini file in c:\ (Partition 1) -- the boot.ini file in the MD2 partition was left untouched (besides, can't modify it after the install anyway as the partition now is hidden and unreadable by Windows.)

The boot.ini file in MD2 should be okay untouched as it works on laptops with the MD button. (I know, oddly enough the MD2 boot.ini file specifies partition 2 when there's only 1 visible in Disk Management)

Will give the Symantec PowerQuest utility a try sometime.

That's where the problem is.... the boot.ini file in the MediaDirect partition is incorrect in that it is referencing the wrong partition. Mark

Why would it work unmodified on Dell laptops with the MD key though?

MediaDirect Reinstall has shown that it can 'miscount' depending on how your hard drive is set up wrt partitions. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes not... Mark

Hmm... it's worth a try.

Does anyone know of another location to get the ISO image for the reinstallation CD? Trying to get it out of the Dell Chat support people can be very hard since they keep sending the wrong CDs.

The link in the first page of this thread no longer works.

Thanks!
