Will a dell 3007 work on a 9300?

Hey, i did a search and i found one person that had a 30" monitor with the 9300 he said he a 6800 vanilla... i have a 9300 with a 6800go nv42 or 41 dont remember... will it support the dual link needed for the high res?

That's an expensive LCD, I just purchased the 24 inch wide one, and I hope it works with my 9300 as well. Although I just plan on using it with my desktop and xbox 360.

loki fyi: Just hooked my dell 24" to my 9300 and it's really, really nice.
I don't see any reason why it won'twork with a 30".

30" Needs Dual link, 24" doesn't. Only way to find out is call Dell. I know the ports are dual link, but I don't know about the card itself.

Excuse my ignorance, does dual link means that two cables are hooked up to the video card from the monitor? Thanks.

Nope, Dual Link means that there are two TMDS transmitters on the device (a TMDS transmitter is what basically sends information via a DVI port. It allows for the ultra high resolution (a single transmitter can output 1920x1200 and that's it.

Do you use the DVI port?

Thanks for the info gurux. I did research it, but way too technical for me to understand completely. But I got the concept. I wonder if there are cards supporting this now.

Loki: Yes, I used DVI. On the nvidia control panel, I selected single view rather than dual. For some reason, I had some problems with the dual view option. Anyway, I played hl2 for a while at high settings, it was fantastic.

Yeah well I plan to just use the extra space for doing things inside of windows. I hope that my desktop will be more organized and the idea of having a 1920 by 1200 resolution will make more sence as well, as compared to my 17 inch display.

No comparison.

There's already a thread that says the 3007 won't work on the 7800GTX.
Correct the the 3007 will only work with the 6800NU. It was comfirmed that this card has a dual link dvi, but the ultra,7800, and 7900 do not

Dont expect to get good gaming results using a 9300 with 6800NU and the 3007. Thats simply too much screen for that card to have any decent performance. Even if the 7800GTX had duallink it will still be taxed quite a bit.

It will not work if you have a revision 0 card, not sure how many other ones there are but I am guessing the new ones will work, I downgraded my XPS gen 2 to a 6800 vanilla with bios version 05.41.02.29.a8.

It works a lot better than on the 7800gtx (all drivers work with it, works in the bios, works when windows is booting, or booting off cd's/linux console, etc.) however everything detects the card I got as single link (vs dual link with the 7800 gtx/ 6800 ultra, however those dont work right, and only two drivers versions will even run 1280x800 correctly. I am probably going to look for a rev. 01 card and test that, and maybe a rev. 02 as well, if they exhist, anyone know what all the revisions for the 6800 vanilla are?

you can still game at 1920x1200, the scaling works very good when you have soo many pixels, and it is still nice to have the high resolution just for desktop use, that is one of the main reasons why I decided to downgrade to the 6800 vanilla from my 7800 gtx, unfortionately it doesnt work.

But VESA®, 2560x1600 (98.71 kHz Horizontal, 59.97 Hz Vertical)

You gotta think, Dell also offers a Quad SLI setup for this screen, lol.

Hmm got a new card directly from dell, still doesnt work, oh well, maybe the motherboard on the xps gen 2 doesnt have dual link, I dont know... I have just about given up on using my laptop with this screen, I am about to buy a pny 6600 gt (2xdual-link DVI) off ebay or something. really annoying.

I have a 9300 with nVidia Ge Force 6800. How do I check if I can drive a 30" 3007FWP ?
I had a 3007WFP, max resolution was 1280x800. the monitor can't scale to 2560x1600, so every pixel is really repeated 4x, making it kind of un-sharp. The only laptops with dual-link support that I know of are Macbook Pros, which drive the 30" Apple monitor. The Dual-Link DVI on the back of our inspirons has support for 2x the binary signals, but it's just not implemented on the motherboard. I remember seeing a spec sheet at dell.com for the i9300 and it said single-link DVI, but I can't remember precisely where.

I did a lot of research, did a lot of different tests, to no avail. If you want to use that beautiful monitor you're going to have to build a desktop. The amount of real-estate in that monitor is ridiculous!

The new XPS laptops also support dual link dvi.
