I haven't gotten mine yet but first I'll format it to get rid of Dell's junk.
Then install my 2 GB of OCZ RAM.
Then I'm going to turn off a bunch of services and make other tweaks to the OS e.g. turn down some of the graphics, disable disk indexing, disable system restore, etc.
I'll make some minor registry changes as well e.g. decrease the time to kill hung apps.
Then I'll follow some of the guides found at Neowin.net http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.ph...opicfilter=all
that have helped me to decrease boot time.
In other words, a whole bunch of stuff.
Once I finish Path in two weeks, I have around 6 weeks to play around with this baby. Acronis True Image will be my best friend.
If something screws up - bam! restore a drive image and all is well again.
In the mean time, I'll continue to use this desktop. Once my break is drawing to an end, I'll stop playing and tweaking and install everything properly and transfer over all the files I want to keep e.g. Outlook folders, and make that my primary machine.
Oh yeah, I'll likely undervolt my CPU and underclock my GPU as well and probably a few more things I've forgotten. There are so many tweaks to do.
