Either way it works out for both ATI and Nvidia users

I installed last night and played a little UT2004, COD, and MOH...and WOW!!!! COD has never been this smooth!!! So far these drivers are awesome but only time and repeated use will tell the true tale...

1st huge problem...if I open any window with a video file in it and the window is set to thumbnail view...the screen starts turning on and off four or five times until it is normal again...this is a huge problem but I will deal with it until I find out from tech support what this is...

Update...well it was one particular video file that was giving the problem...I don't know if it had a virus...I just updated my Norton Definitions and will be running a full system scan...the saga continues...

I'm sticking with my OMEGA's they run GREAT.....and I'm going with the old saying, if it ain't broke, then don't upgrade. Why chance a problem if you're not having any.

the omega drivers give me problem in counter strike. so the new ATI drivers are awsome.

Yup, I'm happily blazing along with the 7.95 which works fine for me. Haven't tried the Omegas....what are they? How are they different from ATI's? I see how peeps say they're great, but I shudder to use 3rd party drivers. If they are really that good, perhaps I should switch?

Nah if you are balzing along on current drivers why switch unless you are a notorious tweak hound uch as myseldf. I have to download newest dirvers and try them out just to see if they improve anything even i f teh ones I have are working fine. The omegas work great if you want to try them go here

Anytime I try to play an avi file or look at in a window via thumbnail my screen starts turning on and off and then after about 4-5 cycles it's ok...what the heck is this about???
Did it work fine before the driver update? Anyone else having that problem? So your saying if you have AVI files in a folder, and you have the Thumbnail view turned on, when you open the folder the screen flashes or gets black 4-5 times. Must have a problem trying to display a still shot from the AVI. Does a folder with photos only with the thumbnail view turned on work OK?

No I never had this problem before. What you said is exactly what happens but in addition to that...anytime I try to play an avi file it will do the same thing 4-5 times and then it will start playing...I posted in the AW boards and will have to wait until Monday to see their response (which will be worthless).

Photos are no problem...even in thumbnail view....

My God! I haven’t posted on these boards in ages. That’s how good my Area 51 has been. Not one hick-up until I downloaded these new drivers. Notebook gamer, mine does the same thing when I try to play an AVI file, screen flickers a few times like it’s stuttering, then it plays fine. The 7.95 drivers were working fine for me but like a lot of you, I’m always trying to get better performance. I feel I’m going to have to go back to the 7.95’s if this problem isn’t resolved. I originally downloaded the 7.96’s to see if they would fix the problem of my fan being stuck on running too fast after my lappy comes out of standby. It didn’t fix that problem either.
