The Beauty Of: Half Life 2: Episode 1 - Page 2

Yep, had that happen too. It's a known bug. However, the .wmv file is in your media folder of ..

\\steam\steamapps\<your user name>\half-life2 episode one\episodic

(WHEW!! we made it).

4 hours isn't long at all Everyone I've spoke to, has complained about the length also. I guess what can you expect for $20, right?
If you are extremely unscrupulous, you can always save the $20 and get it from a decent torrent site.

I suggest paying for it... I played it, and then my brother finished it... 2 x $10 movie tickets worth.

I want the free version...

A friend told me it was encrypted, and I couldn't get a free version, is this true?

I am pretty sure Valve/steam is learing as they go and making it harder to pirate.

I for one support people paying for their games. End result is that the creative people who make good games are rewarded and ultimately the consumer is rewareded with better games. Otherwise those creative people go do other things so that they can put food on the table. One of the few cases where I support the company over the (illegal) consumer.

Episode 1 is giving me that urge to load up half-life 2 and give that plus EP1 a shot. Other contenders for next game are R:TW, Sims2, Halo, Oblivion. Sadly the list of games I want to play is always growing due to a lack of gaming time. Better than not having any good games to play

If you consider the price to length ratio it almost ridiculous, but after playing I could nothing but clap my hands for an awesome 4 hours, those guys at valve are a great bunch. So for me I say it's totally worth it, look forward to episode 2

and the HDR on the game looks very beautiful, bigger difference than I would've thought.

I fully agree with you. Software piracy is no different from any other form of theft, no matter how strenuously some people are trying to rationalize it.

Plus, 20 bucks for a game is not an unreasonable price at all. You spend an evening at your favorite bar and have a few beer, chances are it's gonna cost you more...

Well when I took these, It was running a Bittorrent verision that didn't even have to have Steam! I like to test games before I buy them, and I have already purchased this right after finishing!
yeah it actually runs quite well maxed at native res on the tl wuxga on my E1705 with the 7800 go. A huge difference from the 6800 and the 1440x900 =)

The expansion is good or is really too short?
Way too short imo, I think someone else quoted 4 hours which is about right. Great while it lasted though, just over way too soon. I'd rather pay $40-50 for a full game of like 3 episode and play through the whole thing. $20 is fair enough but I think CS Source is the same price and obviously has much greater reply value.
