Power Adapter/Battery Acer Aspire 5672WLMi

Question for all who have Acer 5672s, do you have extra batteries or extra power chargers? If so, did you buy then directly from Acer or do you have a third party? Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Branded products will most surely be more expensive than non-branded (I mean computer brands). If you really need one go to one of those sites that let you feed in you brand and model and spew out your options.
Acer does a Mediabay battery, but unless you really need the machine running continuously, you are probably better of with a normal battery and go into hibernation for switching it. Be aware that hybernation may cause some artefacts when your machine is a bit heated.
if you think you need more chargers (I don't see that one), I would go for a more universal one, also usable for other equipment. Acer's own charger handles most current mains all over the world (110 to 240V and 50-60hz). You may need an adapter plug.

I am still waiting for the rechargable battery producers to jump into this market. They are capable of producing batteries wh any memory effect, so it would be ideal for laptops, mobiles etc.. But apparently device manufacurers don't see it that way.

Not a bad price for a spare AC adapter. I always like to have 2, one for my office and one for my living room...

Thanks

Thanks drio and sucka for the reply.

I will probably end up buying 1 extra battery and another power adapter. I need two for the office and for the home. A little tired of bending under my desk to plug it in.

I'm confused as to why you say this... Lithium batteries do not have memory effect (infact, they perform better if you dont always run them down all the way). They can lose effectiveness over time, but so do all batteries.

thomasdawes, hadn't thought about one for the home and one for the office. A very good reason, saves carrying a brick. (but does't fit my more mercenary-like work assignments)

Li-ion is ok, but modern rechargables (e.g. NiMH) can put an awfull lot of energy in a small space while allowing 1000+ recharges. I'm not even using the best ones with 850mAh in a single AAA, compared with Acer's 4800mAh in my standard battery.
OK, there's a bit more to it, I am sure, but still.

I think I'll get a 2nd adapter, as well. Just wish I could get more than 1 1/2 hours out of my battery (5672). Battery life is my only complaint on this laptop. Other than that, I love it!

2nd Adapter

I got the second adapter that Sucka recommended on Ebay. It is good. I don;t have to be worried about not having a charger/adapter anymore. I know I still have to carry the adapter everywhere if I want to use it outside of the office or home, but that's minimal on my part. For roadwarriors, a second battery is probably the best bet.

I agree that battery life is short. Then again, I have a T2500 and usually have an external hard drive connected to it so I can't say it isn't my fault.
