ASUS A8JM-H001P Features, Benchmarks & Upgrades - Page 3

Finally got one just over a week ago - stock have been hard to get here in Oz apparently (I think due to popularity!)

Ended up paying AUD$2664 with 2GB RAM, pretty happy with that. So far so good (my 1st lappie, hasn't disappointed).

Anyone know where to find help or info files on the ASUS utilities (Live update, Power4 Gear, Net4 Switch etc)?? The most recent manual is pretty thin or has nothing on them.

Also going to try those 91.xx series drivers - cheers Darrick (ps great review too on notebookreviews - was the first one I saw and I was sold!!)

Barman what FPS are you getting outdoors in Oblivion? I get about the same as you (assume that must be inside), depending on settings (have followed a few tweak guides). Outdoors in forested areas I average only about 15 (with suggested tweaks eg. grass). Might try the overclocking at the rates here - http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...t=56703&page=9

Thanks

In reply to your question when i was finding the fps for oblivion i spent equal time inside and out, to try and get a pretty fair score but i can if you like just do an outdoor test.

Hey Guys,
I just ordered my A8jm from Clive Anthonys (Australian Company). The specific model is the A8JM-H018P and according to the specs they had has a 2.0ghz processor and 120gb Hdd (can't seem to find anything on it anywere on the net though). Anyway they price matched the best quote I had at the time, so was all good.

When it arrives I will confirm the specs and let everyone know.

Adam

If you are going to get a Merom, don't forget to run a test for a battery's power saving, make sure that the power comsumption is better than Yonah. CPU power increase, the battery life will be less than before.

prime 95. you need to run 2 instances of the program(be sure to set the affinity so both cores are tested at 100%) run the blend test, that will make your ram and cpu stress hard.

Thanks for RV, as for the Ram the CPU will support more than 2gb, so we just have to wait till bigger sticks come out, yes this laptop only has 2 slots for Ram

are there any options in bios as far as tweaking goes?

As far as i know you can't access the bios, i gave it a try with no success unless i was trying the wrong way does anyoen know wether the bios can indeed be access on this laptop
post #55 of 84
its an american megatrends bios, so im sure you can at least get a few functions... hit the delete key on startup, that should take you into bios. try control + F1 to find any extra pages, or just F1 if that doesnt work.

unfortunetaly i can not get to the bios at all, there is no post screen or anything that suggest that you can, all you get when the a8jm starts up is an asus logo display then straight tot the loading of windows, and trying everything you suggested during the asus logo didnt work so i dont know??
I don't know about the A8Jm, but to get into BIOS on my Z71v, you need to hold F2 at the splash screen
post #58 of 84
It's F2 ...

When I got my notebook, I had no ASUS splash screen, and it told me to press F2 for BIOS, but after I upgraded to 210, and went back to 207, somehow that splash screen shows up and doesn't tell us to press F2 or anything... weird... but still, it should be in your user manual too.

All the Asus laptop for going to BIOS setting need to press "F2", just like all the Asus motherboard must press "del" key. If will know the Asus products, they will use this key forever(i guess).
Cheers
