speaker time - Page 2

The amp just gives power to the speakers/sub. Its attached to the back of the sub, so wherever you put the subwoofer, that's how far away the speakers will have to be, and how long the wires need to be.

Exactly. The z5300e system is nice. I just got a refurbished set off of ebay for $105 shipped. Retail box, came with everything in mint condition. These things kick ass man; and aren't that bad in price. You do have to connect all of the speakers with RCA cables; but you can pick up a 12 ft extension from radioshack (probably cheaper somewhere online) for $5. I picked up 3 of them; I'm mounting them on my walls. On the bottom/back of the stands there are little holes where you can slide screws in there, to mount them to the wall with. I'll be doing it tomorrow; I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm still waiting for my sound card to get here, but for music even in matrix mode these things are nice. Don't settle for the x530s, these things are only $40 more, and a hell of a lot better.

alright. Seems like the way to go! How long are the stock cables anyway? I dont want to have to run out to radioshack late night to get a pair of $5 cables

The front ones are like 6 feet; I didn't measure since they were plenty long for me. I didn't mount those ones on the wall. The rear ones are both 14 feet.

And BTW, roboto knows what he's talking about; if it wasn't for him I would be nowhere.

My z5500s are amazing for the price. I have them hooked up to my laptop, ps2, and mp3 player all at once. I use it basically as a multimedia setup in my dorm and they are great.
