funny article!

I don't know what Go-L is thinking...

But then again there is the chance that every news media is using libel to deliberately hurt Liebermann inc.

But that is not as likely...

Burt is my hero now. DOWN with GO-L!
Wow this is really good. Please someone convince Burt to go to the authorities with this... I want to be able to hear that that Lisa lady went to jail hahah

Could this Lisa be the same person as go-l-support who frequents these forums? They certainly have the same manner of speech.

Thanks for the moral support. Lisa has sent a rebuttal over to [H], but it is exceedingly weak. If all my information was incorrect, why did they pull the options? The purpose of the article was to give Go-L a shovel, and looks like they are taking care of business themselves.

even if all media outlets colluded against them, that is no way to respond!

Burt is someone who is in these forums? Impressive...

Burt nice to see you here.

Well I just got off the phone with Go-L and I asked to speak with their Media Relations Director, Lisa. They told me that there was absolutely no way I could speak with her if it was not through an appointment. So I said Ok and hung up.

I called again.. trying to disguise my voice.. and I decided to ask about the 433 mhz ram, and the P4EE.

Someone answered and I asked about the 433 mhz. The first response I recieved was "Is this from what has been said in the forums?" I acted like I did not know what he was talking about... and he said "Is this about what has been said about us in the media". I just brushed it off and said no.

At first the person that answered did not want to tell me anything about the 433mhz. In fact this is what he said "Uh... we arent supposed to say anything about this". "We really arent allowed to discuss this".

Then I said.. "Well I am looking at your website and it is still there..."

http://www.go-l.com/store/hardware/hollywood_silver.htm

He stayed quiet and then gave a "uh"...which was followed by a oh well yeah I guess we do sell it".

Then he told me that there were two versions of the Hollywood one Silver and another Gold and that they both used different motherboards.

And well that was the extent of our little chat.

I recommend that others do the same just to see what they say...and poke at them some more.

The original Go-L thread is what sparked my interest - and then it was a matter of talking to the right people. I have met one of the sales people from Go-L (Matt) and he is a super guy, and I was actually quite reluctant to take them to task. I do some freelancing on theinquirer.net, and started picking at the edges. When I requested clarification on the 4 issues, I got that absolutely crazy response back. The intermediary (a collegue at theinquirer) edited the venom out at first, but when Go-L quietly pulled the information from the configuration page I asked for the full copy and appended to the article.

The claim for P4EE and 433MHz memory are still on the main page for the Hollywood Silver. Did they go back on or were they never pulled off? Man, reading through the descriptions of their systems I found many, many erroneous claims, some are simply frivolous. It is a good idea for people to keep bugging Liebermann about these "misprints" and see what they say. They do seem to respond to these questions some times. Last time I pointed out a "misprint" they changed their site within 2 hours.

If all they state were to be true it would be great...and the fact that they were reluctant to answer Burt's concerns, seems like they have something to hide or defend. Go-L has one very easy way out of the flames... and thats to send their high end notebook with all of the bells and whistles that they claim to have, to someone, to have it reviewed. I would like for them to send one to anandtech and another to Toms, maybe others also.

Instead of constantly telling people that they are going to get sued, and the newest, that they are going to hurt them physicaly, Go-L could just cut the childish and unprofessional behavior and clear this all up.

I for one am willing to go to the Go-L store as soon as it opens, take pics, and do as much of an in-depth report as I can.

I am not sure Liebermann are willing to allow cameras into their store...
You guys seem to be assuming the store isn't as fictional as their specs.
The claims are STILL made on their spec pages, but the configuration pages (after you click on buy and have to select) the 433 / EE have been dropped.

Lol funniest company. Hope there's some legal action for the obvious threats in the email. That scam "company" is sad....
Well, the store did not open as previously predicted with great certainty. Indeed, the opening of the story in LA was pointed to as proof of "L's" integrity. The last word is the opening is delayed for some months.

This company is really sad. There's so little of their claims that can be true, and less that actually is true. The saddest part is they seem to believe their own hype.

As for Lisa, yes, the wording and cadence and typos in the letter to Burt are very similar to those of the Go-L in these forums. Certainly the typos and conjugation of verbs/nouns are not that of what Lisa was described as in some of the earliest threads on this subject.

And indeed, the constant resort to threats of legal action and now physical violence is very disturbing. Obviously its Burt's call as he's who being threatened but if it was me, I'd be talking to the FBI. Threatening someone in writing with physical violence, indeed, murder, is a federal offence, particularly as its over the internet and as such automatically an interstate offense. Frankly, any police jurisdiction in the world that has an internet connection could press charges.

Here are two web sites on the issue. I think they speak for themselves.

What's really amusing is the stupidity Lisa exhibits whilst threatening legal action: she has provided public evidence that she is guilty of assault, which is itself a crimminal offense. Per NOLO Legal Dictionary:

"A crime that occurs when one person tries to physically harm another in a way that makes the person under attack feel immediately threatened. Actual physical contact is not necessary; threatening gestures that would alarm any reasonable person can constitute an assault."

Any efforts to actually draw blood and make physical contact would consitute the crime of Battery.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. But hey, Lisa, in case you read this, please be advised that my Father is so you best heed your own advice and "THINK TWICE".
