Media center buttons on front of the laptop

You know those Media buttons in front of your inspiron laptop? On my E1405 i have a bunch of them and i know other models do too. Volume, play, pause etc. Is there any way to modify what these buttons do? There has to be some way to change thier function. Also, where is the option to change the sensitivity of the touch pad. thanks

Sensitivity of the touchpad is in the mouse settings in the control panel. As for changing the function of the keys, it should be possible, as they're treated as normal keys (you can see the side affects of this by using the buttons in certain situations, like in Counterstrike: Source, where using the volume buttons will also attempt to open the buy menu). Google will probably yield results.

i think that sounds kinda familiar because they can be used before windows even boots to view movies and **** like that

MediaDirect is a dumbed down version of Windows, but it's still Windows. It's not like it's some sort of DOS based program.

EDIT: Nice find somms. The media keys are basically like the extra keys on a normal keyboard, and can be customized with any drivers. Figures that the Windows Intellipoint drivers would work on this too.

Stigmata beat me to it, I didn't read his reply.

I think you can use Microsoft's IntelliType program to change the function of those buttons to whatever you want. If memory serves me correctly.
