A2DP Bluetooth on TM8200. Anyone got it working?

Hi guys,

I am new to my Acer TM8200 and loving this laptop so far. But I do have one BIG gripe! I know this laptop supports Bluetooth 2.0 w/EDR and I know it has a Widcomm stack that supports A2DP for my new Motorola HT820 stereo headset but the connection is bad! It takes several attempts to make a Good connection and then once I press stop on the Media Player 10 or 11 it loses the connection with the headset and I have to start over again. Anyone else have this problem? My WIDCOMM stack is 5.0.1.1200. I found a download from a website that had a newer driver than Acer. It was 5.0.1.2500 but didnt work any better. Any suggestions?????

Hi,
I am trying to make use of the bluetooth capability as well. I bought a bluetooth headphone from Logitech (Logitech Wireless Headphones for iPod). Logitech's website shows instructions for connecting the headphone to the laptop, but I am still having difficulty getting it to work. I will update once I get it working.

Well it would seem that a reinstall of the bluetooth dongle driver did the trick. I was able to connect both the HT820 and the logitech headphones by following the setup wizard after the driver installation. I tested both headphones and the HT820 showed problems with connection as flywests mentioned. Further, it loses the connection whenever I switched applications. So if I am listening to music and stop it to launch Unreal Tournament, I would not be able to hear sound from the game. At this point, I have to disconnect and reconnect the device. As for the logitech, this problem does not occur. Both devices have very limited range and even within these ranges, they do not work in all spots. Lastly, the logitech has a band that is vulnerable to breakage, as pointed out by reviews from previous owners. So far so bad.

Thank you! Glad to hear it is not just my notebook. I know allot of users with the HT820 and none of them complain about the notebook losing the Ht820. But, I am glad to hear it is only the MOTO's. Leaves me thinking that the Jabra 620 will be a great pair that works well with the Acer but there are no reviews of the Jabra. I also found the range very limiting. From a typical hotel room I can not walk into the bathroom without losing signal.

Unfortunately,
Neither of the Ht820 and the Logitech have verygood connectivity. I can not walk to the bathroom 15 ft away without losing signal. That said, it works wonderfully sitting in front of the lappie with excellent sound quality. Note that both of these headphones are very uncomfortable to wear for a long period of time. While the Logitech will be unbearable after 30 minutes or so, the Motorola will really be painful after you take them off eventhough they dont really hurt while being worn. I bought the HT820 for $45 while it retails @ $140. But man, unless I find a driver update or something to make this constant reconnection thing go away, it would have been a horrible deal any way.

No experience using the built in bluetooth for headphones, but had big drop-out problems with my Bluetooth mouse until I unstalled the default Bluetooth dirvers.. After doing so, you revert to default Windows XP Bluetooth drivers which have been absolutely trouble-free for me.

Likewise on the driver issue

Yes but unfortunately the Microsoft drivers don't support A2DP which is the Bluetooth service for streaming wireless music to your MP3 headphones. Anyone here know about WIDCOMM bluetooth drivers????

A2dp

Tm8204 + Jabra 620s
Work fine together.
Except for loosing the link when audio signal is interrupted (say, Pause in Winamp). Bet it's a widcomm's bug

Thanks for responding with that. I was actually thinking about switching to the Jabra's but you answered that question. It seems though that this problem is unique to Acer though. I have read on some of the Bluetooth Stereo heaphone forums that people dont have this problem with the WIDCOMM stack installed. I know that those with the HP laptop and the HP bluetooth headphones for example dont have this problem. WIDCOMM software from what I read is only made available to the manufacturer so until Acer recognizes this problem there will probably be no fix.

Wow, huge improvement with the IBM drivers. I installed these yesterday and improves the bluetooth experience all-around on the Acer. My Aver TM8204 use to have problems managing the sound once I turned on the Bluetooth because it would try to send all the audio thru the bluetooth even when I wasnt using it. Anyhow, try it. Works great with the IBM drivers!

Well even though these drivers are still a huge improvement in every aspect I still have one Giant outstanding problem!!! When I pause or stop my music the Headphones lose connection!!! I am wondering if this is a Widcomm problem or a Windows problem. Anyone not experiencing this with an Acer because I don't know of any HP or Dell laptops having this same problem.

Does anybody have any issues with sound quality using the built-in bluetooth on the 8200? I am using the latest widcomm drivers, from IBM's site posted above, and everything is working fine, however, there is distortion on the higher end of any audio I am streaming. I am using a Logitech wireless music system, which basically uses the headset profile to stream music to it. If I use the bluetooth transmitter that came with the logitech system, the sound is crystal clear, but my 8204's internal bluetooth sends distorted sound.

Any ideas? I wanted to use the interal bluetooth so I don't have to have the Logitech transmitter attached all the time, but the distortion is pretty noticeable. Any ideas would be appreciated!
