every acer laptop I've ever touched had awful keyboard flex. Not sure if they would be able to pull it off without some flimsy characteristics. But whats up with the 7600? with a design with such size, I'd expect a few full desktop sized 7950s (had to plug them, because they're better than that last failed attempt at a similar product and they seem to perform well..) or atleast one of those semilame go 7900gs sli setups..

which got me thinking... maybe dell stuck an ati card in their 2010 in anticipation for some crossfire action. I'm usually a fan of nvidia, but those x1900xtxes are pretty hot.. and the crossfire setup (not sure, but remember reading that only the model below the xtx can work in crossfire) would be pretty cool in a laptop.

A 7600 is worse than the x1800.

HDMI and HDCP interesting and useful

What's the point of big screen if it doesn't have hardware to support it.

I would take the 2010 anyday over this system. Once you go above 17" the typical clamshell design is really no longer needed as the system is just too big to handle like a typical notebook PC. This is why the 2010 wins IMHO. The detachable keyboard and the swivel LCD make the 2010 a more flexible design for a luggable type desktop replacement system. If the Acer had raised the bar by using a better video card or some how managed to get better performance out the system I would feel different, however as these 2 systems stand now the Dell will equal or more than likely outperfm the Acer and it has a more flexible design that will surely have better build quality than any Acer I have seen to date.

something that big with a 7600 Go...that is insulting

apparently acers have terrible build, you only need to look in the forum at all the complaints. I was plesantly suprised at the fantastic fit and finish of my new dell i will definately be buying another.

When I first started looking for a new notebook, I almost bought an Acer Travelmate TM8204WLMi... Then I did some research into customer satisfaction with the system. There were problems with its wireless networking, wired networking (which may still be unresolved), terrible LCD screens, etc. When Acer first started shipping them, the RAM was advertised as 667MHz DDR2, but actually shipped with 533MHz DDR2, with no notification, apologies, or price reduction. Only when new owners started complaining about the RAM speed difference did Acer change the specs on their website. As far as I was concerned, there were just too many problems with both the system, and the company, to do business with them.

Are you kidding me? This looks like a low class, no frills, slapped together frankensystem. Sorry mate, I'm not a big fan of the 2010 (though it does have some nice details), mainly due to the size of the thing, but this thing is far worse. - DH

if they buy it i dont think they care about games, not everyone who buys a laptop cares about that, this is a hd replacement device

My friend had the predecessor to this model I believe. I personally thought the build quality was excellent, it had an X700, didn't heat up too much, was light, no keyboard flex (but it was in the curved shape).

As for the 7600 go, this is more of a multimedia machine than gaming (hence the 7600 go, and HDMI/HDCP), so I see no problem with a 7600. I think it's stupid to have an HD-DVD drive but the main screen is only 1680x1050, that means to watch REAL HD content at full quality you'll have to get an external screen.
