Replacing Power Jack on i6000

Thread Starter
Hey everyone, I have a dell laptop that is out of warranty and experiencing power problems. I have replaced the power brick and it doesn't alleviate the symptoms, so I am confident in saying the problem lies in the power jack of my laptop.

Basically, my laptop makes a connection only when the plug is held in certain directions. Specifically, if the plug is held at an angle so that it firmly contacts one of the walls of the jack my laptop will have power.

I am confident in my soldering abilities if they are needed, but I need to know how to replace this jack. My laptop is my only computer so I don't want to send it in for repair (and probably pay through the roof anyway). Is there a way I can order this part and install it? Does anyone have any experiences with this?

Thanks

that jack you speak of is typically on the Motherboard itself but I doubt you could just replace it or even order the part seperately. The i6000 flaots around the web for a good amount you could probabaly find one someone is parting with so finding a new motherboard shouldnt be too much of a problem.
