woohoo, the day is near...

well, late february at the soonest anyway
post #3 of 35
Could you please post the response times of the LCD screen please. Thanks.
I think its not gonna be out until the end of March. Thats when Intel will ship out the improved Prescotts.

Is it just me or did anyone see the Dothan being postponed until Feb 2005??

but this is bad news...I need a laptop ASAP
post #5 of 35
Response time for the LCD is 25ms because it's the same 17" 1440x900 panel as the 47x0 model. Don't know what the spec is on the 1920x1200 panel but that doesn't actually exist yet AFAIK.

As for Dothan, all the references I've seen refer to 2H 2004, where'd you see anything about feb 2005???
One of those links underneath...something about Dothan being pushed to Feb next year??
gs if you need a laptop dude, just buy one now. It is going to be obsolete in 3 minutes time anyway .
gs, hold on! I am with you, and I will wait for the Sonoma...forever waiting...
im waitit too, although I they said they wouldent hold the 8790 for prescott, they just need to make sure prescott will work on it. SO it may be released before they actually recieves the prescott chips.
guys...thanks for the support here

Im not pissed...I've seen this loads of times before to be pissed...

Im just VERY tempted by the Fujitsu 5010 - I dont mind the 64MB RAM although I dont know WHY those idiots refuse to plonk in the 128MB M-10 which would be a deal sealer for me...

aussie - I want something "unique" and too many people have the 5680/8890 already...its either the 8790 before the end of Feb or i'll be ordering a Fujitsu...I like their LCD...

damn this is hard...can someone analyze that report and tell me exactly wtf is going on??

Why the hell cant they start shipping out the 8790 with the damn northwoods!! I dont give a rats ass about the Prescott - just give me the damn 8790 with the M-11 and everything else. Its unlikely that i'll even bother with the prescott anyway

Damn you Sager
gs, the Dothan is delayed to Q2 2004. The mobile chip that will be delayed until 2005 is a Mobile version of the Prescott at 3.73GHz. (Although I wonder why Intel is producing a mobile prescott anyway...most notebooks that use the prescott will want the full desktop version).

Really! I feel the same way! Stupid Prescotts holding up the line! And nobody even wants them!!

Its gona be may-june before im in need of this, so hopefully the bugs will be worked out by then lol. perhaps by then they will have the wsxga and 4xdvd avail also....and a fuel cell to power it would be nice.

You buy a laptop based on the number of people that *don't* have it. Huh?
Too many 5680's and 8890's? Huh?

Surely you buy a laptop on the basis of its specifications and if it meets your computing needs - or am I wrong here? Are you more a Go-L funny little rock kind of guy?

From what I have heard about the Fujitsu's they sound like a great machine (as you say particularly the 16" high contrast LCD). But there will be more Fujitsu's sold than Sagers. I am the only one I know who owns a Sager. I have friends with Fujitsus, and the other main stream brands (they still envy my 8890 btw).

From what I read about the Intel releases they are having fabrication problems. That to me would sound alarm bells. I would not want to buy a laptop where the CPU is not yet bedded down properly. At least you know the Northwood's are stable.

It certainly isn't looking good for Intel...the 90nm affair may turn out to be a fiasco...that will teach them to make parts smaller than the wavelength of their lasers...

Am I the only one who thinks that the Tejas will be a Itanium based 64bit processor? (Not compatible with x86 at all)

Configure one here

Check this out. Go to http://www.eurocom.com, click on future models and check out the EUROCOM Mirage D870P. This is the new model, probably made by Clevo. Not available yet with the Prescott or the UXGA screen. $4000 and you can own one by the end of the month.

Ha.... by May/June, the M12 will be out. Well, at least that is what people are saying according to Dell site.....
heh aussie - you know me better than that. If I am gonna get a Sager - I wanna get something I can write about here on the forums before anyone else gets to see theirs

Thats probably gonna happen anyway...so thats besides the point...

I would order a 5680 today but i've had a 5660 before and I would like something new for a change...either 8890 or 8790 maybe 5680...

Cant talk now - I feel like crying - damn Intel and damn Sager for waiting for the Prescott -just start shipping out the 8790 like YESTERDAY with the northwood 3.4 -im happy!!!

JEEZ

My sentiments exactly just ship it with the Northwood 3.4 I will be happy - $#$% Sager!
Agreed. I'd order it right now if could get it with the Northwood.

If it doesn't come out pretty soon I'm going to have to go with gateway m675
