Dang!!! I was so looking forward to replacing my 8880 with something newer.

Screw the Prescott!!! Release the 8790!

Way I see it, the cpus sound like they're plenty hot enough. I'm not going to chance the newer, hotter, virtually untested setup. Negative. 3.2ghz is plenty for me (considering I'm on a 700mhz VAIO right now).

Prescott. Just say NO!

all this work for prescott and its prob gona stop at 3.6 ghz anyway lol....and be no more powerfull than the 3.4 is thats avail right now.

The Prescott will scale above 4 Ghz. The longer pipe is supposedly more efficient at the higher speeds. The problem is that they will change the pin count on the chips... so there goes that upgrade path.

Well, how else to keep the geek world buying new stuff?

Someone get on the phone with Sager

Why would anyone buy Prescott? As soon as it hits 4GHz, it will change pins and use the newer boards with PCI-Express. The Prescott out now is slower than P4 and there is no way to get faster ones later...

Dear Dr. Laura:

I need some advice on what the moral thing to do is. I have been with SEMC for over a year now, and I have caught him cheating on me.

<Laura>: Well VP, what's going on?

I think he is having an online affair. He doesn't talk much to me anymore and every time I try to talk to him now, he keeps telling me that he needs some space. Yesterday, he said, "I think we need to see others." The problem is, I think he already has a replacement for me in mind. I mean no one says that without alternatives already planned. This is so distressing Dr. Laura, I ... I... just don't know what to do.

<Laura> VP, you said you were about 2 years old. It sounds like SEMC is trying to replace you. Well since it is S.A.D. day (Singles Awareness Day), I'll do you a favor. Now, you need to be strong for me VP and stand up to him. Every time he goes online to shop for a replacement, block that IP address and give him error messages. What I'll do is delay the release of the 8790, and claim that the Prescott is holding it up. I couldn't keep claiming the ATI card is the problem since Dell decided to release it without our permission.

Now happy Valentines Day VP, and remember, revenge is a dish best served by having owner waste all day troubleshooting non-existent Windows errors.

Isn't Dr. Laura the lady on national radio trying to sell some kind of air-filter?
Yes, but the joke was a play on Laura@PCTorque. Btw, Laura, I know my computer loves me, but I really don't want the Prescott, so stop delaying the 8790 for a chip that no one wants now. Your motherboard will have to change anyway to allow for the new Prescotts at the end of this year.

Don't know if this means anything, but M-Tech is showing a launch date for their version of the 8790 as April/May.

whatsup whit the 9700 (256mb)?
do we get it or is there only the 128mbs?

WHo said anything about april/may/june. So far Sagar/PCTorque/Cleve has not said anything that indicates anything past february. Adam said the 8790 is not going to wait on the prescott...but clevo still needs to make sure prescott will work even if the 8790 wont ship with them.

edit: i just saw the mtech thing...but....uhhh....mtech sucks !!!!
