Vista Beta 2 now Public - Page 6

Alright, after more use of Vista Beta 2, I've found out that some of my mp3's will not play. It can read the ID3 tags from the mp3, and it plays fine in XP, but it will not play at all in Vista (at least not in WMP11). Here's the screen shot of the error message:

I have been having the same problem when trying to open vidoe with DIVX. I will try using Xvid instead of Divx. Maybe that will work.

I have vista installed fine, but I'm having a horrible time getting any drivers to work with my wireless USB adapters. I have tried both my Microsoft MN-510 with NO support driver wise, and my D-link DWL G132 doesn't work as well. I don't see them on the supported list, anyone get anyone else get any love with the wireless?

Those are some of my personal screenshots. As far as the MP3 playback issue, I tried something that got 1 of them to play that wouldn't play previously:

I edited the ID3 tag in WMP11 by filling in the album name and album artist. So far its only worked on 1 of the ones I've tried, however one of the others did start to play, but WMP11 did not work correctly. When it went to the next song it was still displaying the previous song's information even though a different song was playing.

I can't get WoW to run @ 1920x1200 ... Anyone have some ideas? I'm running the latest nVidia drivers, so it kinda makes me wonder. I have a 7800GTX in case people are wondering.

For those of you with the 7800go, what drivers have you found best?

Guildwars is having problem with the graphics, probably due to the beta drivers.

Have you tried the laptopvideo2go Vista drivers? I'm using those currentley, but I haven't played any games on here yet.

Has anyone gotten WinTV2000 and the Radio application from the WinTV PVR-USB2 working under Vista yet?

(The TV tuner works just fine under MCE).

Man, you sound like me. I think it will be about a year or two after it's release till the OS, the hardware and whatever software you're using "plays" nice. With XP it's pretty much a "mature" product, if nothing else from the prespective that if you have a problem, more than likely there is a workaround and there is a huge installed base of users that can help you out. With a new OS you aren't going to have that and your going to have a period in which the software mfg's point their fingers at the OS people... and the OC people point their fingers at the software people when something doesn't work. I'm about ready to try Linux again. At least with a Linux based OS if there is a problem it gets fixed pretty fast.

installed it. used it for an hr. then removed it and went back to MCE xp.

I personally suggest that users with atleast my level PC i;e., 9300;s .. stay off vista. It looks nice...with some neat touches...but too hogging. my gpu stays at 58 ...which is like load game temp normal. and this is a vanilla 6800...no overclocking. in mce it stays at 47 or so.

I would say its also not worth it...since to empty a recycle bin of 2 gb...it took like 11 min.

personally, when vista pcs come out...when Dx 10 cards comeout ...around 2 yrs from now///is when I upgrade to vista.

in the meanwhile...I am going to get my remote control for MCE, a sound blaster audigy 2 PCMCIA and party. ..

I dont think its a 9300 problem you have...i have the 9300 with the 6800 vanilla...GPUi dle temps are around 44 C, which is fine in my books...

Did you install nVidia drivers or was that using Vistas own drivers?
