Vista Beta 2 now Public - Page 5

I took a couple of screen shots of the performance dialogue windows so you all can see what I'm talking about too. These are all in the order I was given:

Performance Rating and Tools

Drivers are interfering with Windows entering sleep mode.

Drivers are causing Windows to start slowly.

Startup programs are causing Windows to start slowly.

Programs are causing Windows to shut down slowly.

This question my have been answered somewhere on this forums so I apologize in advance. Did Beta 2 have Aero Glass feature bundled or is it out of this release?

Vista was giving me problems with getting my audio working properly and it had way too much bloat. Now I gotta fix my mbr when I get home thanks to the dual boot crap.

Installed on my desktop and uninstalled the next day. X-fi drivers wouldnt install and I personally dont like the changes they made so poof it was gone.

The NVIDIA Control Panel should be there. However, they put it somewhere I wouldn't have thought to look. I actually found it by accident lol. Go to the Control Panel, then go to Additional Options. The SigmaTel Audio control panel and the NVIDIA Control Panel are located there

I am waiting at least another year after its actual true release.
XP is now at a level were it runs smooth and secure.
Unless there are better features then just a cooler and smarter (3D) GUI and a bit more tighther protection?
No thanks...

hmmm, from what ive read from other forums, the Windows System Performance ratings seem to be messed up/screwy.

I've gotten an overall rating of 3.

Pentium M 2.13 GHZ- 3.2
1.25 GB RAM- 3.5
74.56 GB Free (93.10 GB Total)- 3.5
Geforce GO 6800 Ultra- 5.9
256 MB Graphics Memory- 4.7

maybe its the drivers? who knows

Ok so ive tried this on my dummy system (Inspiron 9300 Overclocked to 2.4Ghz with 2GB ram and Geforce6800go Vanilla) Ran so horribly slow with even the most common applications. Using IE7 was a chore as it needed my permission for nearly every website I go to including hotmail.com! The OS is quite pretty and give soff the MACOSX feel to it but overall im sticking with XP until the OS hits RC2 or Final Status as it seems like it has a long way to go.

I totally agree. XP and Ubuntu are going to be staying on my lappy until they pry it from my cold dead fingers. In a year or so when vista/hardware matures I will look at a new system. The only thing that could change that is "must play" games.

vista beta 2 is working perfectly on xps gen 2 and the games worked fine too. it is about 85% as fast my xp on game. i have office 2007 beta 2 and it's great too. vista beta 2 is very usable.. only my tv tuner doesnt work on it and that i dont like but all in all it's a good os with a lof of eye candy and nice functionnality.

you would have seen right away if you used the classic control panel... i dont understand why people used that new control panel when they can use the classic one...

windows vista and office 2007 work quite well on my inspiron 9200, save for some hardware: bluetooth and an pcmcia tv tuner

i may soon remove my vista partition...has anyone done so? if so, is it alright to simply delete the partition using partition magic then editing my boot.ini to a single boot to xp?

Probably because that's the "default" control panel view. On top of that, I never even thought to look in the control panel for it to begin with. I found it when I "wasn't" looking for it. Doesn't really matter to me which control panel is being used though.

Also, I added some more screen shots to my Vista folder:

Its things like this that piss me off, making things more annoying to use. Its like the start menu, it didn't really need changing. Now its far more cluttered and has lots of fiddly drop downs. Also the new GUI is going to hammer battery life as it will require the GPU to be running full whack to render the glass effect.
