not to mention, swapping a Merom in place of a Yonah requires a bios update. Think about it from the company's (Dell's for instance) perspective. Which is more profitable for them: releasing a BIOS allowing customers to upgrade their own laptop (not to mention possibly voiding their warranty in the process) or make no bios update and require those desperate for upgrade to buy a new laptop?
