New BIOS Version 1.13

Hay they released a new BIOS to.

Version 1.13
For Models: AREA51:M (NEW MODEL)


This file contains an ISO for you to create a Bootable CD with all the necessary files to flash your BIOS. This update improves the ATI VGA BIOS, updated memory timings, fixes a power saving issue and improves support for 1GB modules. Apply this update ONLY if you are experiencing problems with your system. CAUTION: IMPROPERLY UPDATING OR FLASHING THE BIOS CMOS CHIP ON A MOTHERBOARD CAN DAMAGE THE MOTHERBOARD TO THE POINT OF RENDERING IT USELESS. ACCORDINGLY, YOU SHOULD PERFORM THIS BIOS UPDATE ONLY WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF AN ALIENWARE TECHNICAL SUPPORT AGENT. PERFORMING THIS BIOS UPDATE WITHOUT SUCH ASSISTANCE WILL VOID YOUR SYSTEM'S WARRANTY.

D/l the bios zip that is "BIOS 113"

I installed it no problems yet. Ran SiS Soft. No lose or gain there. Ran 3dmarks Build 340

No lose or gain there.

IM gonna test CS and Battlefield 1942, and RainbowSix 3

Ill let ya all know if I have any problems.

I still agree with Drew. The 1.05 Is the best. My compy runs the best on it. But Ill give this one a try.

put it on my system and no probs thus far. had to tweak a few stting in bios, but thats nothing big. You know after they changed how the eyes worked, I went and reset them back to the flash.

Do you guys have tech support on the line as they say to update the bios? They say it voids your warranty if you update the bios without tech support on the phone??? How easy is it to do??? I never have update the bios...

put it in
restart
type runme
hit a key
watch it go
then restart

PS. I do alot of things htey wouldn't recomend, like make my own NV drivers, and get different wireless drivers, replace my own keybaord after my GF trashed it with sprite.....

Are there any docs listing what updates or changes in this version? Usually you can find docs from other manufacturers that say "Fixed in this version". Just curious.

Does this update have Dual Channel memory option? is the motherboard even capable have having dual channel?

Hey guys I have the 1.09 and I want to downgrade to the 1.05 but I was wondering If I could downgrade to 1.05. I know the procedure I just wanna know if it will screw up my comp.

Hey guys I have a serious problem. I had the 1.09 bios and I was upgrading to 1.13. well everything went smooth I burnt a bootable disc with the 1.13 bios on it. I put it in my cd in my cd-drive. I restarted my computer. I tapped f8 when the alienware logo appeared. I booted off the cd-drive. I typed runme and pressed enter. I pressed any key and then it started installing or whatever. It said I passed and told me to restart my comp. so I pressed ctrl, alt delete to restart my comp and when it starts back up all I get is this gray scrren which turns to black, then another gray screen which turns to black and its like an endless loop. Someone please help me with this I am so sad I just got this 2weeks ago. Thx guysn appreciate it. Oh and btw I did it by myself and not with an alienware technician on the phone. If I have to call alienware should I lie to them and tell them that it isnt just working? or tell them the truth.....

Mine upgraded fine now runnign on 7.96 drivers and 1.13 BIOS. All is well and running great.

So sorry to hear...I am so glad that I got scared and didn't do it...I will definately do it with a tech on the line now...good luck...do not admit this to AW because you will end up paying an arm and leg to get a new lappie fixed...plead ignorance!

omfg I am soooo scrwed. I didnt buy this laptop my dad did. FOR CHRISTMAS. It was like my only ****ing god damn present and I had to go and update the god damn Bios. I called Alienware and they said it would cost something around 720 bucks for labor and motherboard. WHERE THE HELL IS A 14 YEAR OLD KID GOING TO GET 720 BUCKS MY GOD. I hung up on him half-wayt through so maybe he didnt record it or ****. my dads out and when he comes back if he hears about this ill be screwed. God I am sooo screwed. Anways an alienware guy had me upgrade to 1.09 before and I followed the whole procedure like he told me to upgrade the 1.13. my computer said I passed. But then when I turned my comp on it isnt posting. God I am soooooooo mad right now I seriously want to kill someone. IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS PLZZZZZZZZ TELL ME
