EDIT: my bad, this is the mALX owners manual... i cannot change subject...

If you need your system to be high performance on battery power, this is not the system for you. page b-2

High Performance Video can not be enabled when the system is battery powered.

ahhhhh!

Now I wonder what the m9700 will do on battery power. The 7900GS uses less then ½ the power of the 7900GTX in these bad boys so I am “hoping” this is not the case. Guess we will find out

also, CLEVO messed up. looks like they removed the "power" options from the BIOS. if you look on page 5-8 you see that "power" menu, but on other screens it is not displayed, nor are is anything said about it.....

No offense, but you shouldn't expect full power a desktop replacement on battery power ... especially from a beast of a laptop that probably dwarfs most people's desktop machines.

I'd be interested to see a hack that allows full power on battery though ... I'd love to see somebody jump on the forum and scream, "I ONLY GET 3 MINUTES OF BATTERY LIFE"

I read that somewhere about the m9700 but I can't find the link... It said the m9700 will only use one card on battery. The documentation I've seen says it's design target is 2.5 hours on battery with a single 7900gs, so that was my first clue.

All of the Clevo high end desktop replacement, or high end laptops seem to have power down functionality while on battery that are not adjustable in the bios or power options. The 7700's power the processor back while on battery.

Wow, even with it running on one card while on battery would be awesome, I honestly figured it would shut down all cards and revert to some sort of "integrated" graphics...

Except for the front loading disc drive - I am totally in love with the 9700...

keeping my fingers crossed, but I should get to order mine on Monday

There will be an official post once that occurs

I'm on the verge of ordering this notebook as well, keep us posted!

Yeah, from the benchmarks I've seen, the single 7900gs will beat my desktop system by 50%.

I've seen several people say they don't like the front loading disc drive. Why does that bother some people?

*shrugs* No idea, the front loading disc drive was one of the cooler looking parts in my opinion. Didn't go with the 9700 in the end, but I still thought it... nifty.

What did you go with?

hi guys... off the topic, but has anyone who ordered the m9700 gone past phase 3? just curious to know if im the only one stuck on phase 3... btw, ETA on my order says june 26th.
is that for the m9700 as well? if you disconnect the a/c it goes into low perfomence mode?
I actually went with the mALX. And my wallet HATES me.

Hey, thin is in - and I bet your wallet is definitely thin... The lower resolution and the higher price helped me to choose the 9700...
The lower resolution did bother me a little, but what made up my mind the most, I think is the fact that I have always gone with the 'second choice'. I've always gotten the cheaper, almost as good (arguably) model. This time, I just couldn't resist getting the bigger, flashier machine.

I'm still arguing with myself about it, too.

Nope, this is a pre-order. The earliest estimated delivery date was June 19, but I'm not sure if they'll meet that or not.

I'm in phase 3 also...

For the m9700 I think you can override the processor clock down through the power settings if there are any. The turion is a mobile processor so it uses a lot less power.

I've read somewhere that on battery the m9700 only uses one 7900gs though, not sure if you can change that...

I wouldn't worry about it - When you get it, I bet it is worth every penny. If I honestly had had the extra money, I probably would have sprung for the malx also, despite the resolution...

I agree with Willyb311, when the thing gets there just enjoy it. It looks to be an incredible toy... I've always really enjoyed the black box party day.
