Good Games for Laptops when w/o your mouse

Thread Starter
All my favorite games seem to really require a mouse (BF2, HL2, ES IV Oblivion)

...but I dont always have my mouse with me and sometimes like in a cafe or on a plane a mouse isnt convenient (especially with a 17" laptop)

so what are some fun games to play where I could just use my trackpad...maybe some strategy games...or anything really.

thanks

umm...u need a mouse for most games...i cant really think of any were a touchpad would be sufficient

but u should consider getting a mini-wireless mouse

they make tiny ones that would be sufficient for oblivion

Driving games?

well without a mouse rules out nearly all of the FPS genre. Strategy usually need a mouse although you COULD play on your touchpad, I have and while I was slower that's the onlything that was different. As Snafle said driving games would probably be your best bet, that or flying sims if they don't use a mouse (I've never played one). Other than that maybe some RPGs that oly require the mouse for you to interact with your environment, not attack and all round survive.

Other than that if you have bluetooth get a mini mous for that, or just a mini wired one. Hope that helps

I have played carom3d -> www.carom3d.com with my touchpad... its not as easy as with a mouse but its playable

You can play WarCraft and StarCraft on slow game speed... That'll give you enough time to react with the touchpad. Now I dont know about Diablo 2. That game can take some mass clicking. I wouldnt go for it. Other games maybe like small 3d games like snake or tetris ^^

Football games don't need a mouse at all if you are a fan of..

I have played most of those games you listed without a mouse. I set the scroll settings to the fastest so I can quickly aim. I got used to it then I realized I could hook up a mouse through my USB port haha. Mouse is much easier though

you could play the fps's. i've tried, but failed. i've also tried starcraft, but then somehow, the computer rushed me and of course i was playing on fastest, so i lost really quickly. also tried rise of nations, and just gave up on it after maybe 2 minutes. when i dont have the time (like say waiting for a flight at an airport), i'll just pull out the basic games like hearts or freecell or motherload (a flash game that involves digging into the martian surface (though i lost it when i switched my hdd))

it's really amusing at lan parties where most people have laptops... especially combine it with a knife round on CS or something, and you have strange battles that usually end up in someone grabbing their mouse and taking some sort of power weapon (remember the old days of N64 goldeneye?) and mowing everyone down and/or multiple people taking out their own gun after the first shot is fired...

I do know someone that swears by flying their planes in BF:1942/DC with a touchpad and he's pretty good at it to, however get him out of a aplne and he has no mouse and he's raped once you strafe around him.

you know that little place on your laptop where the centrino sticker is?

Rip the sticker off and use it as a mouse pad.

Then play Civ 4.

you could get one of those miniature mouses and then use it ON your laptop, like the flat space under the keyboard and right of the touch pad (left if you're left handed i suppose). of course on the right it allows your fingers to access wasd

perhaps some racing games? those only use the keyboard except for navigating around menus.

Any turn-based strategy game will work fine. Civ4, as was mentioned above. Rome:Total War, if you like games based on real history.

You don't need a mouse for Sid Meier's Pirates!, which is a great game to waste time on . Check out Tropico also. Tropico 1, you are the dictator of a small island and have to prosper without starting a war with either Russia or the USA. Tropico 2, you are a pirate leader in charge of an island and have to prosper without having your entire fleet sunk. They're very good and can easily be played without a mouse.
