cool read, Thunder_PC, thx for the link
What a performance hit, as u said. my (limited game) test so far points me to the normal performance as before, using my preset game options. i wonder if it is due to the fact that i have an ATI card and not the nVidia as in the article's test environment.
i do agree with the article about OpenGL, as mentioning a bit earlier at the very start, my Google Earth ball was hitting the sand box under OpenGl, but rolled on cement when switching it under DirectX mode - after the beta driver update from ati, it is now back to normal. interesting to find out if uncle bill has something to do with this, like masking OpenGL layer under DriectX.
IE7 - hmmm, i use this beta version even before the vista, nothing change there, need some getting use for inside menu navigation. nice improv from previous IEs
WMP11 - i use this also before Vista, and come to like it, it is a bit cleaner.
Windows Defender - use this before Vista, it has a better mark than AdAware, from my view being using AA from the start. the update was annoying under XP, but seems to smooth out inside Vista
AVspec mentioned above the issue with Sleep&Hibernation, u have x64Vista, would you confirm (or not confirm) in this issue? thx
