Yep sure did. When the card had a single pipe heatsink on it, at 640/1200 it was reaching around 83-84C but with the dual pipe heatsink the temp never got above 78C.

hmm, does anybody who's on the 91.31 driver have a problem playing video files (.avi, .asf, etc.) after you exit a game? Seems like I have to reboot to get normal playback.. I'm running @530/550 btw

Wow!

Nice work 5150 Joker!

At what point do the cards start getting damaged (temperature wise)? Do the higher temperatures shorten the life of the card? Running at 50-60C compared to high 70's surely puts more strain on the card.

One thing Im wondering...will keeping my GFX-card overclocked all the time, shorten the life-span of the card? Cause Im keeping mine at 600/1150 all the time...

nm, seems only to be related to source engine games (hl2ep1, sin)

updates done for the day.

To get your score posted, please use the format below:

Score - Name - CPU / Memory / Screen / HD Size & Speed / Single or Dual-pipe Card / Driver Version / Power Supply @ Core/Memory/Voltage

SCREENSHOT REQUIRED AS BACKUP!

There are plenty of examples of this format in the first post. Take your time, submit it right!

Well it's been fun guys but I got the RMA for my E1705 approved so I'll be exiting this thread (unless Dell screws me and cancels my M1710 order lol). Good luck to everyone with their OC'ing, hope someone is able to top my score I'll keep the download links for the ISO available indefinitely and if any of you start adding more customized roms, feel free to e-mail them to me and I'll revise the ISO.

Congrats JOKER!

Badass system!

That's not OC'd.

Sorry sorry. I'm still EXTREMELY new to OCing. I can't get my card to OC, every time I change the clock speeds and then click OK, it reverts back to default. I'm using Coolbits with a 7900GS. Any ideas?
You can't use coolbits to overclock the 7900GS. Download the ISO provided on the first page and boot with it.

Use nvflash to flash the card to whatever settings you want.

You'll find the clocks inside the ISO. Remember the "v" in front means 1.24v instead of stock.

ok

So let me see if i got this right, i can get me an e1705 with 7900gs and turn it to a 7900gtx? Are temperatures over 79c bad? hmmm ist the most inexpensive/best performing notebook...?
the GS canNOT be turned into a GTX, but you can make the gs operate at faster clocks.

Temps are relative to the cards stability, some cards overclock more than others. Mine for instance will not operate properly at a memory setting over 1100, while others in this thread like FLASHSVT can get 1150 without issues.

Using apps like i8kFanGui to control your system fans will help with temperatures, most of us never hit 80deg with our overclocks..

hmmm

so what are the factual differences between Gtx and Gs cards besdies clock Mhz?

I have an M1710 on order that should get here this week. Got it for $2100 shipped.
wow would you recomend the xps 1710 over the 1705? it seems that a 7900gtx is not worth it when (thnaks to you) we ca run the 7900 gs at higher clocks...
