I'm getting my 7900gs soon and I was wondering if its ok to run it at 500/550 @ 1.24v indefinitely.
Would running 500/550 @ 1.24v be safer versus 480/550 @ 1.0v?
Since 500/550 is low with 1.24v and 480/550 is high with 1.0v?
Or would it be the other way around?

If your card is stable at 480/550 at 1.0V, then it'd be safer to run that, as 1.24V is a significant increase in power usage, leading to more heat.

And if I decide to run the card at 1.24v, will this be okay for long-term usage (years)? I'm not talking extreme overclocking to 600+ or anything, but something relatively decent like 530/550 or less.

Unless the cooling fails, I'm pretty sure it will be fine. I don't plan on reducing my overclock of 625/1100, it's stable and well within safe limits, in my opinion.

Okay so I downloaded Joker's boot ISO, but I don't see any of the lower OC settings available. I want like a 510/550 OC, but I see like 525/1100 as my first options, and I don't want to start that high. Help anyone!? Is it on there? Am I just missing it?

And I don't see any options for an OC without the V in front of it for increased voltage. I am confused here!

Also, where can I find the stock dell driver for the 7900 GS?
There are lower ones than 525/1100. Don't know why you're not seeing them. Look harder. The stock drivers are on Dell's website. The stock BIOS is in the bootdisk, called stock.rom.

Okay so I just found out they are there, but the screen scrolls down so I can't see the ones on top. Like I know they are there, but it won't allow me to see all of my options. How do I scroll up?
This is pissing me off b/c I cannot see all of my options. Grrr....
Do you have an archive manager installed? Something like 7-zip or WinRAR?

If so, either view or extract the ISO and you can see which files are in it.

If you need all the available clocks in front of you when your booting from the CD, you can extract the ISO to its own folder, then open a DOS prompt there. Type "dir /b > clocks.txt" and print out clocks.txt.

Shouldn't I just be able to see all the options available once I boot from the CD? I really just want to lower end Overclock settings. It's not that I have to see all my options, but the options I want to see I only get to "glimpse" for a split second before the screen scrolls down to the other files. Does someone have a list of file names for me so I can just type that in and be done with this? I am looking for like a 510/550 OC or something small to start. If someone already has a list of everything, it would be appreciated if you could PM that to me.

Okay I used WinRAR to see my complete list. Thanks eth! I have head of people using like 510/550, but that's not an option. Did Joker take that out?? The first option is 400/1000. Is that stable??

Edit: Thanks for the list also!

510/550 would be v5101100.rom.

Remember to double the memory clock and the "v" is 1.24v.

I just figured that out...lol..wow I feel dumb atm. Thanks eth for your help! +Rep for you!

+rep for helping the guy out, I haven't had much time lately to post since I've been extremely busy with work.

Looks like the 7900GS has great OC results. I guess I probably wait for next generation GPU for DX10 and vista.

Have anyone of u try to OC the 7800GTX using lower vcore? I am running 1.25v with *little*heat decrease.... The highest I ever go is 479c1260m, but I guess with new GPU the OC will be much better in future, since the M170 still playable.

GJ guys!!
