More GTX bios numbers (flashed into a 7900GS card)
9159 - centi - T7200 / 1GB 533 / WUXGA / 80GB 7200 / Single-pipe / 84.29 / 90W PS @ 600/1600 / 1.16V
For those asking if the 7900GS frame rates are really higher with the GTX bios - they are. The best GS overclocks I was seeing were still short of 9000 (3Dmark05). Where I can get almost 9700 after flashing the GTX bios. And the average gaming fps rates are up too. Some members, like andre25 are achieving amazing scores > 10,000. The 7900GS runs too hot for my taste at 1.24v though. So I backed it off a bit, in both clocks & voltage to get a nice, stable 9159 score. No artifacts & maximum gaming temperature under 80C. Sounds good to me. I'm not sure that I really understand what is different in the GTX bios.. Are those 1.8Ghz memory speeds real? I don't know. But whether the numbers are cooked or if the latencies are different or the GS has bios masked clock limits.. the bottom line is that the GTX bios gives nice performance numbers, while running relatively cool.
Wondering if you should flash a GTX bios to your 7900GS? Well, keep in mind that there might be unforseen risks. While it appears to work 100%.. no one here is guaranteeing that it won't damage your card somehow. The GS cards don't benefit from having dual-heat pipes, as the GTX cards do. And lastly.. when flashing a GTX bios onto a GS card, remember that you need to override the errors (wrong GPU, board ID mismatch, etc). The override switches vary with the flash version you are using. I used nvflash -4 -5 -6 ROMNAME.rom
