No bass on E1505 onboard speakers

Hi, I have a new E1505 and integrated speakers sound really tinny no matter which media program or settings I try. I got the Audigy HD package (I know...I'm a sucker) but I've tried the sound with the latest SigmaTel drivers as well as the Audigy package and nothing seems to help. I know onboard speakers aren't supposed to be great, especially with bass sound, but these are noticeably bad. I have an older 8600, also with onboard speakers, that puts this one to shame. That doesn't seem right. Anyone have any thoughts as to what the problem might be? Thanks.

As far as I know, thats just how they are. You shouldn't really expect laptop speakers to have crazy good bass. For being laptop speakers, I personally think the bass is acceptable for occasional casual listening. If you really insist on there being more bass to your notebook speakers, consider getting one of those dsp effect things. I have used a plugin for WMP called maxxplayer and it's pretty good at boosting the bass response of laptop speakers.

I have an i8600 and I have to say that the speakers in it are the best I've heard from a laptop.... Though I haven't experienced any of the huge laptops with subwoofers....

I guess I'm trying to say that it might be more of the i8600 rocks (for laptop speakers) rather than the e1505 sucks.... but yes, it seems stupid that they downgraded the speakers...

Ugh. That sounds pretty bad, even for Dell. Any way to tell what kind of speakers the systems come with? I'm probably going to order replacements and start getting some use out of that warranty but it would be good if there was some way to direct them to which type of speakers I'd prefer to have.

i dont have my e1505 yet, but a guy at my work had one, and was playing music loud so he could here, and i heard the music half way thru the building (huge area. i work in a car shop) anyways, i heard it thru about half of the building. even when there were loud tools going on, and cars moving, i still hear it if i was a lil bit closer (id say about 30 feet away)

Yeah, everything else I've heard about the E1505 is that the speakers are very good and loud for a notebook.

That's what I thought too but no one's actually compared them to an 8600 (that I could find) except in this thread. Anyone else compare speakers on the E1505 and the 8600? Unfortunately those are the only two laptops I've owned so my frame of reference is pretty limited.

I had an old Dell Inspiron 4150 and some random old Sony Vaio laptop, and the E1505's speakers easily outperform both of them by far.

the only way you will get bass in a laptop is to get a laptop with a subwoofer built in, or get some external speakers.

you have to just accept the fact that laptop speakers will not be that great in general.. but in comparison to other laptops, the e1505 actually has some pretty kickass speakers.

anyone here know if you can mod the subwoofer that comes in an i6000 into the e1505?
I was surfing ebay and saw a 6000 subwoofer for sale, and figured since just about everything else from the 6000 is compatible with the e1505, why couldn't this be.

Does anyone know if the 8600 came with a sub (or how to check)? I didn't think it did (and I didn't add one) but there's pretty decent bass on it.

To my knowledge, the i6000 had no such subwoofer
