Well, i still have to wait a few weeks to order my lappy, cuz im getting it when i move to new zealand. Its gonna be shipped to the US then to me, but these are the specs of the machine. I decided to get sli, because i am pretty sure one card can be turned off whern i dont need it, and i really wot need it most of the time, its just gonna be to "future proof it" as they say, i also planning on upgrading to a dual core processor amd, if there out by the time i order, if not, ill justy wait till there out and order one I wanna get a smooth creations paint job on it to, but only if i wont kill my warranty lol.

I am also going to order a bunch of accesories from buy.com(mouse, mic, printer, external hard drive, blank dvd's etc etc.) and that should complete it all

And eventually i wanna get triple 30 inch moniters for it, from this moniter place online..but there about..10 grand or so, so it wont be righta way xD.

I wanna move now so i can have it but good things come to those who wait hehe. And when i get it expect and nice review and lots of high res picces

The m9700 has a 54mm Expresscard slot, not a PCMCIA.

PCMCIA was the first standard for card slots, then they moved to buscards which are smaller, but I think still work in PCMCIA slots, but they've now just introduced the expresscard slot that's in the m9700. I don't know if Creative will make a soundcard for the expresscard slot, probably will, but they're not available yet.

The m9700 has 5.1 sound onboard, and has the 5.1 outputs so it should work fine with any speaker setup up to 5.1. Older laptops just have headphone and mic outputs, so you needed a PCMCIA card to add real speakers.

Also I hate to say, the dual core Turion X2 will use a different slot than the single core Turion, so in order to upgrade you'll need a new motherboard, so it's not just a drop in upgrade... The dual core won't make much difference for gaming, but it will speed things up a little if you're running more than one program at a time, or if you're running a program that is multi threaded like some business applications, so it can run on more than one processor at a time.

I was thinking of waiting for the dual core too, but it's months off. If you can wait six months or so it's likely AW will have them.

whoa, what a set up...

I was kinda dissapointed about the lack of a PCMCIA slot, only because I just bought an audigy card about three months ago when i was gonna get a 7700. Oh well, I guess it will end up on ebay... I'm sure we will all be glad once everything starts switching to expresscard. Planning for the future I guess.

Awesome system setup though...

Ohh ok. Cool hammerhead. Ill be waiting for that card so i can plug in some kick ass 7.1 surrond speakers hehe. Or something really kickass. And the processor..I wont wait, ill just see if alienware will pop in the new mobo and processor, and ill front the charges. Cuz i usually run like, photoshop, msn, yahoo, aol, opera, mirc, microsoftword, some download proggies like limewire or whatever..and yea..dual cores would be sexy..make things faster to hehe But i am not gonna wait 6 months to buy the laptop lmao.

I is so excited lol. woo! *runs off to stare at the pictures some more*

Well if you want your fast gaming lappy to remain just that I would be careful with the list of bloatware you mention, in particular P2P clients like Limewire, there are a lot of nasty files you can download unknowingly - do nasty stuff to your machine.

I have an old 'dirty' desktop I keep in a corner for P2P downloading, keep the lappy clean man!

Same thoughts I had jesse...

I wanted the dual core, but I need something now. I was told that AW is doing everything they can to make sure the new mobo will fit in the same case, so if they can we'll be able to do a mobo/processor upgrade in the future. I think this thing will last me quite a while before I'll be thinking of upgrading though, and by then who knows what will be out...

I don't plan on multi-tasking much with the laptop though, I've got several desktops for downloads and that kind of stuff.

The PCMCIA slot was a big deal to me as I have both 5.1 speakers and 5.1 headset, but the m9700 has the right ouputs for 5.1 so I'm set. I don't like having cards sticking out of the side of the laptop anyway, too easy to bump and break the interface off the mobo...

Ukbanans, it will be fine, i don't game much, but i do have many spyware, malware, etc removers, finders, preventers, etc. Also i got a good virus scan, and i know how to use limewire without getting viruses and such, cuz i have been using it for months and havnt got nothing on my current desktop, wich by the way is nothign compared to the 9700 xD. The 9700 im getting makes my desktop dell look like a spec of dust lmao.

And cool hammerhead, i prolly wont upgrade for a bit, but its nice that the option will be there when i do decide to do an upgrade teehe
