Oh, that Toshiba drive wouldn't work for me, anyway. I need a SATA drive.

I think I'll just wait it out for awhile and see what hard drive technology does for the next couple of years. If 16MB buffers are the new trend, surely someone else will come out with a 7,200RPM drive with a 16MB buffer.

Besides, I just dropped over a thousand dollars on this P105, and I'm a college student! I need to let my checking account recuperate for awhile, anyway...

Andy, I have ordered the same memory as rahul recommended, the crosair PC3200 400Mhz, the exac same model he talked about.

Edit: I'm screwed, aren't I?...

No not at all, make sure to post up your results, I for one would like to hear how it works out. Rahul got it to work. I have some corsair XMS PC3200 2x512 running correctly in mine.

well, glad to see everyone is searching the forums. I have a complete writeup on my P25-S607. Yes the corsair memory works and in dual channel. I wish the mod's would sticky the topic because I highly modified my p25 and I even installed a 54g wireless card. Now, the best hard drive in the market at 7200RPM, is the Hitachi travelstar series. I upgraded to a 100GB model right now, I payed quite a bit, but the P25 is a phenomenal laptop given the right upgrades. If you want the timing on the memory I can post a screenshot. Everest Home Edition quickly revealed that the first 2 corsair memory sticks which I purchased were NOT identical in timing and were not properly made. Corsair quickly replaced them with 2 tested identical pairs, and my toshiba boosted to Dual Channel DDR400 memory. Read my posts and you will see what can be done with your p25.

In the future Check: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=112795 with all of your questions, and the memory timings are posted Andy.

Rahul, now find a way to upgrade the Graphics card and the P25 would really be awsome

Edit: Maybe you should edit the title of the post to something like "How far can your P25 go" or something, so they would make it a sticky?

Ive done my homework on that too, the only viable way of upgrading the P25's video card is to change out the motherboard. The best video configuration in the P25 series from what ive seen is the P25-S670. I believe it has a 128MB GeForce Go5700. And inherently there are some flaws with that particular GPU. However, I haven't heard the flaw being translated to the P25 series, so I am not sure. But also, if you upgrade the GPU, you will need to change out the Baseboard for the motherboard, I don't know what the Slot/USB configuration looks like on that mainboard, but I dont think it matches my P25-S607. I think i've drawn to the end of the line with the P25 series. I am selling this notebook as I have just received a brand new HP zd8000 series notebook for $175. Normally I would never sell my toshiba for a HP notebook, but for $175, I can't pass up the offer. Plus the HP notebook has a much better video card and screen. If there is anyone that wants to buy my P25 which is in mint condition, drop me a message. I will probably take out the 100GB hard drive and put a Seagate 100GB 4200RPM drive into the laptop.

Later
Rahul
