DX8 and DX9 games to try?

I need some ideas for some DX8 and DX9 games to try on my new 8600 when it arrives. I just want to make sure all run smooth. Thanks!

Cod, BHD, FS2004 & or 2002, Far Cry Demo, UT2004 Demo, Battle 1942, Rise of Nations, could go on. not sure the DX on the games, my system plays them with graph set to high with no probs.

I didn't think about the demos. I should try a few of those. Hopefully that 5200 can handle it

Probably will be able to play all those mentioned at some degree....But perhaps not at the native resolution of your 8600 (whatever it may be), and certainly not at the maximum detail settings.

I'd also suggest trying out Serious Sam: The First Encounter AND Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. Neither are really on the bleeding edge of 3D Engine technology, but both are truly excellent games. The Second Encounter still is beautiful, lots of pretty textures, massive environments, and a sh*tload of enemies - It's like the original Doom, with great graphics. Lots of fun.

Try Beyond Good and Evil, I haven't been able to get it smooth at full res on my WUXGA (although granted I haven't tried much *lol*)
