Memory upgrade question

I have a 9890 and want to add an extra GB of memory (2x512 MB sticks). At Crucial it gives me 2 choices

1. DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 64Meg x 64 US $162.99
2. DDR2 PC2-4200 • CL=4 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR2-533 • 1.8V • 64Meg x 64 US $132.99

The manual says it supports DDR2 400/533. Crucial says both those will work. Will I see any extra performance getting option 1 or should I save the money and get option 2?

Thanks for your input

Both choices will indeed work but you'll want to see what the memory timing of your current RAM is. You can find that info in the bios (I don't know what it is off the top of my head). If it's CL 5 then spending the extra coin for choice #2 is pointless. You can only run your timings based of the settings of the slowest memory you have.

Either way, you won't see any additional performance with option 1 because your 915 mobo will only run the mem at 533, not 667.

Hope that helps.

I guess it is option 2 then.
