Well i have a vertical discoloured line in the middle of my screen. CRAP!! It kind of flickers and is not noticable on white. I didn't get the extended warenty. Oh well. I never do. I guess i lost for once.

I am pretty sure it is my screen what do you guys think? How much does a new 1900 X 1200 screen cost?

It could be your video card. I see you have a 7800 Gtx

You can try reinstalling your video drivers, but I'm betting that it's the screen. I think a screen runs like $300.

does the flickering occur during bootup as well?

Good question above...

Try an external monitor. If the line is there too, it is the video card.

I would try the Video driver. My screen had a verticle line like that and after removing the driver cleaning with drive cleaner pro and re-installing it was gone. Aslo like said above trying an external monitor is a good idea.

could be overheating as well. The heatsinks get clogged with dust very easy

I just had a similar problem with mine. It was the video card.

Hay thanks for all the advice. I will try all of your suggestions and see what i come up with. It does appear to be very hardware related. I will try an external monitor. But i think i will wait until I am more sober. LOL I was out drowning my sorrows.

try taking a picture of it if you can. Having a hard time visualizing the issue.. until then, I'll throw out some generic ideas..

for the second time in about 5 minutes, I'm going to recommend reflashing the video bios.. It has solved a number of crazy problems for me.. Even though they dont generally become corrupt from daily activities, computers are wierd and anything can happen.

Depending on which display you have, you could always try replacing the inverter board or lcd cable. It'd suck to buy a whole new display or vvideo card when it could just be a little fix.. worst case, you're out like 20-30 bucks for the inverter and cable and still need to buy the lcd. I'm not made of money or nothing, but it's a gamble I'd want to make..
