My friend wanted to replace the XP Media edition on her E1405 with WinXP pro (she bought a new copy), after backup, the HD was repartitioned and XP pro was installed. The problem is when entering the serial code, it doesn't take it. Has any1 encountered this? We tried the new code from the CD and some other code from my CD but it always prompts that the code is invalid. We already checked it letter per letter but still the installation doesnt take the code. Can someone point us to the right direction on installing WinXP pro for E1405 (Duo) lappie.

I shouldn't be. I don't know the problem unless she was sold a pirated copy of XP.

Where did she buy it from?

You are entering the 25 character product key from the Certificate of Authenticity that came with the new copy of XP Pro, right? I can't imagine why that wouldn't work.

l don't know why it wouldn't work but can l ask why your installing xp pro over MCE? They are the SAME thing except for one feature which l forget but it doesn't really affect you (l think).

When l was reformatting my e1405 with the mce disk it came with the install screen for xp said at the top "Windows XP Professional" instead of MCE.
