Sorry, Stuartray, but I don't have the memo scanned so I can't email it. Maybe someone else here has scanned it and can do so.

Can you fax it to me at 919-371-2828? I don't think I have my fax on auto answer though, so give me 30 minutes from the time of this post to get home and switch it to auto. Thanks.
I called Toshiba twice today and they said they have no record of that problem in their database. How did you guys deal with that?

FYI, after having a G15-AV501 sitting in the corner of my room for a number of months, I ran across this thread and called Toshiba. First called tech support that told me it was out of warranty (and was, in fact, beyond the repair period for this problem), but to call "Customer Care" (888.811.9602) and advised that they would help me out. Once I told the lady at Customer Care about the overheating problem, she immediately asked me if I wanted to take advantage of what I believe they called the "motherboard upgrade program". They then gave me a UPS number that allowed me to take it to my closest UPS store and send it to them for FREE repair. I dropped it off last Saturday (7/19/08) at UPS. They received it on Monday and are currently working on it. I can track what they're doing online through the Toshiba website (Repair Center) link. They said it takes about 7-10 days (assuming the part is in-stock). Hope this helps anyone else having this problem...NO memo required!!!...

Hi

I had F15-AV201 that run for 18 months and then stopped, i have been told that the motherboard failed, unfortunately I bought it from a shop where I live (Saudi Arabia) and that shop closed, I took it to the local vendor and told this is not part of Middle east machines and they can not repair. I wounder if there is a way that I could do to get it repair, please advise.

Regards

I would contact the main company directly, instead of going to an individual shop. They ended up shipping a box with a pre-paid return on it to me, in which I put my laptop in and shipped it back. There was no need to talk to people at a store. - John

Hello there

I'm new in this forum but it seems I am not the only one with problems.
My F15 stopped working about 2 months ago - stopped booting, orange light instead of blue blinking, power light blinking in code as well.
I tried to reinstall the OS but the notebook turns off after a minute or so.
Today, I called customer care at 888.811.9602 and explained the situation, and the guy, after putting me on hold for several minutes told me that I was out of warranty and if I wanted it fixed, I had to send it for service - $425 fee.

How can I use the memo mentioned here and can anyone please email it to me? kokeradio@gmail.com

Thanks

No, they didn't charge me a thing. They sent a prepaid shipping box to me, upgraded my system to a chipset with 6600go (instead of the 5000 series that was originally installed). I haven't had a problem since, and no cash left my hands. When I was talking to the rep on the phone, I mentioned the numerous complaints about the board being defective (on their forums and elsewhere)... he then immediately send they'll repair it for free. No threats or anything from my end. - John

Intresting this is still going on. I got my F15 used off of Craig's List and it was way out of warranty. Since the problem was well know with the defective motherboard/GPU , Toshiba replaced the MoBo for free including UPS shipping in both directions. They even upgraded the GPU from go5500 to go6600. This was back in 12/2006 and the Qosmio has run perfectly ever since.

I just called the general Canadian Customer Care number... whatever that happened to have been. You might need to find that blackmail memo if they aren't willing to play ball. Or, you could just keep calling until you found someone who was willing to cooperate. From working as a Sprint CC operator, I know that some people in the centre are without a clue, and probably don't even know there was a problem with these models. You might want to ask to speak to their supervisor, they might be more cooperative. - John

I did this a couple years ago, so I don't recall which exact number I phoned. I was assume that it was whatever was listed under the Canadian contact page, which is currently: 1-800-663-0378 Hope that helps. - John

Hi everyone, I'm a new guy here, I also have a problem with my Qosmio F10, it happened few weeks ago - first I had vertical lines, then my laptop started to freeze. I thought it was a Windows XP problem, so I've tried to reinstall Windows XP. During the installation my laptop just died and when I try to turn it on I've got a blank screen. It's 3 years old so I don't have warranty. I've called Toshiba Support and they told me they don't have any information about this motherboard replacement programme. Can anyone send me the memo to my email slusek@gmail.com ? Did anyone get the motherboard replaced recently? Kind regards Slusek

Send a message to Techcec (the previous poster) who just attempted a replacement. Perhaps he can tell you how successful he was with his approach.
