A few days ago when I was setting up my 4780 and I inserted my USB PCMCIA Card into the slot along with a USB powered fan. All of a sudden the power to my system turned off (I have done this in the past without any problems however except this time I believe i inserted these items after booting up). After this I noticed that the battery charging light would not turn on when my system was plugged into an outlet. I noticed a quiet high pitched noise coming from around the back of my computer whenever the power was plugged into it. When I hold down the power button for a few seconds it will boot up for about 30 seconds and then turn off (this is due to me having a dead battery that cannot hold a charge anymore). It will not run at all if i have it plugged in on ac without the battery. When the battery is completely depleted after trying to boot up the computer, the green power light will flicker on and off briefly every few seconds if i hold down the power button.
I want to know if there is anything that can be done to fix this besides an RMA.
