9750 Reboot on WinXP64 Login Screen

Long time no post

My 9750 has been going pretty well now, except this one issue

When i boot up, theres a 30-50% chance my 9750 will reboot automatically as soon as it gets to the Login screen for XP64. I did a quick search on google and found some people on a VIA forum with a similiar problem, saying it was a certain version of the chipset causing it for them

Can anyone confirm this, or shed some light on the subject? Theres been 1 or 2 minor issues with my 9750 that I can live with, but this one kind of worries me

I'm not familiar with this issue. If you expect help, you'll definitely have to post more about your hardware config. Raid 0 Sata drives? Single Pata? Which drivers used etc.

Lets see here...

I have 2 drives, SATA, not RAIDed at all

Chipset Drivers i used were VIA : 5.1.3790.140 , dated 2/22/2006

I notice some entries into my Application Event Log that could coincide with these reboots...

And then right after it...

I have no clue if that means anything, a google search isnt turning up much on it yet, but i'll keep at it. Any other suspicious entries into my event logs that i might want to dig through?

USB maybe?

I've noticed that when I disconnect any usb devices from my laptop (I always have a wireless usb keyboard / mouse plugged in), the system seemingly boots right up, with no problems. I haven't tested enough times to see if theres a true correlation there, but there is some evidence to back it up. Has anyone else ever experienced boot issues with USB devices plugged in?

I plan on finalizing my 32-bit install on my 2nd hd (need drivers and software still), and doing a clean XP64 install anyways (becuase I enjoy torturing myself), but I figured I would post this small update in case anyone else ever ran into a similiar situation.

The times that it restarts with a USB device attached, was it on batery power?

I have learned not to have USB devices plugged on when starting on battery power due to a USB power drain issue caused by drivers. This first was noticed with AMD dual core procs but is also happening with Intel Core Duo procs as well.
