My E1705 is toast.

I came home last night and tried to bring the laptop out of hibernation, no response. Tried the power button, nothing. Then I noticed the power light was out.
Pulled the AC adapter, nothing...
Chack the battery, says its fully charged.
Left the battery out for about an hour, nothing but one quick flash of the power light.
Tried without the battery and on AC, nothing but one quick flash of the power light.

I talked to Dell support and a tech will come out to replace the MB Friday.

How long does it usually take to replace a MB?

Update 6-16-2006:
The tech replaced the MB and the problem persisted. I called returns and they are expediting a replacement laptop.
The tech was polite, professional, on time and experienced. He replaced the MB in about 15 minutes and looked like he knew what he was doing.
Since today is the last day of the 21 day return period, I called returns and they are ordering me a new laptop, which should ship in 3-5 business days.
While I haven't had much luck with the E1705's, I will say that so far the people that represent Dell have made a good impression. If only the hardware was as good as the people....

Tech replaced both fans in my 9300 in about 15 minutes. completely apart and back together again.

Take all the screws out and have the laptop open for the repair guy, that should save alot of time.
And 2 hours to replace a fan!? I can do it in 15 minutes!

tech guy replaced my Video card in about 20 minutes. Would not think it would take over an hour to replace a motherboard unless the guy is clueless

When the tech came out to my house he replaced the Motherboard and Gpu and was out in 30 minutes. It really shouldnt take em long.

Just had the MB replaced on my M1710 and it took the tech about 1/2 hour. For those who's WiFi light is not working the MB replacement will fix. Altho I had other issues one USB plug not working> I was getting a blue screen Memmory Hardware Failure>and when I would unplug the power sometimes would crash. Needless to say I had Dell replace the MB and my Ram and by my suprize it also lit up my WiFi light

Yea I would go with in-home. Having to mail in a laptop seems like a pain, and you'll be without it for a few days.

And Complete Care added to the Warranry is a good ideal, and Definite must for Road Warriors

I bought the 4yr next day, in home with Complete Care. I expected I that I would need the warranty, but not this soon (17 days).

The replacement is here!

All i can say at this point is WOW!

I called EPP returns last Friday afternoon and the laptop arrived Tuesday afternoon. I have to give props to the EPP staff, they got the job done!

The laptop works great so far. The LCD is Wonderful! With the hardware brightness at half way and driver brightness at 46%, the blacks are BLACK and there is either no light leakage or I just can't see it. This would be a 150% improvement over my last E1705.

Here is what the invoice shows for the LCD:
1 HH258 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17, WU, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, LG PHILIPS LCD, V2

Right now I'm a really happy camper. I sure hope this one keeps on working, I dont want to give up this display.
