system recovery

my wife just received a winbook j4 the other day and i noticed that the j4 has a way to do a clean install by pressing F10

is there a way to do this on the m5700 (or any laptop for that matter)? i know i can use ghost to make a disk, but is there way to set up a seperate partition just for the image?

What I do with my lappy is as follows:
2 discs of 60 gig each
I have them as standard discs ie no RAID

Disc 1 is partitioned into

C: 10 gig
D: 50 gig

Disc 2 is

E: 60 gig

I use the C drive for the OS only, and install all apps, games etc to either D or E. That way I regularly ghost the C partition to E: and if I ever want to recover my OS I just reghost the C drive.

It has saved my bacon a few times already

but do you do the recovery within windows (c drive) or from teh boot screen? the winbook has it as a boot option

the winbook has software install (hidden as well) on the hard drive. a friend of mine has an acer with the same feature. AW doesn't support this: they're still doing it with the Respawn disc and such.

If I want to use ghost from Boot then I just pop the ghost CD in the drive and boot from that.

I can also run Ghost from within Windows if I want , but if the OS partition is borked (happened once so far) then I just use the Ghost CD
