I'm just wondering does dell partion their hard drives on all their laptops?

Also, do they have alot of dell brand programs running eating up ram, processor speed, etc?

Don't know on all their laptops, yes you get it with some Dell junk that you don't need. If you have the time I would do a clean install of XP.
