Pentium M 2.0ghz running at 788?

Hey all,

When I installed World of Warcraft a warning told me that my system didn't meet the min specs for the game. I ignored this and assumed is was just an error. However, the other day I looked at the system specs and it shows my Pent M running at 788mhz rather than 2ghz, this number remains the same plugged into 120V or with the battery.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the power schemes, but I didn't want to start messing with the laptop and end up saying rather than just asking someone here that probably knows exactly what's up.

Thanks!

Change your power scheme to "always on". Save and reboot. You can disable speed step in the bios also.

I would just leave it if I were you. Speedstep allows for your CPU to "power down" when the PC is idle. In other words it only goes as fast as it needs to up to 2ghz. It saves battery life :P

DO NOT disable speedstep in the bios settings as this locks your CPU to 800mhz.

DTS - Check your CPU speed etc by running CPUZ (clicky). WOW is notorious with laptops for reporting an incorrect speed so i wouldnt take what it says to be correct.

Finally check the following -

In BIOS under Advanced>Advanced Chipset Control>Processor Power mngmnt it should say enabled. If not it locks it to 800mhz.

If you want to control your CPU speed. try "Notebok Hardware Control" software. google it...
