Need help picking out Laptop

Hey guys,
Im going to be going to college next year and I am looking to get a laptop for that new adventure. So, I really dont do much gaming, mainly wordprocessing, web surfing, and I am a big audiophile, but most things of that sort will be delt with with a USB DAC. So, what laptop will give me 1gb or ram, small and lightweight, all around $1000?

I am not agains Ebay, referbs, openboxes, or used if its from a reliable source.

I'm looking at this as a cheap laptop. Upgrade to 2 GB of ram and be in the money?

I would not buy the 1.5 year old laptop, too outdated.

For $1000 you can have a nice new one.
