A couple of day ago, I found out that my Gateway m675's Toshiba SD-R6112 burner started to fail when burning dvds... so it is time to find it a replacement. The problem is I want to keep the actual faceplate, the one coming with the laptop. The problem is that not all the slim dvd-burners have compatible latchs distribution. Until now, I found the following:

The GW m675 comes with the following burners, for each I found out the following:

SD-R6112 toshiba:

COMPATIBLE
  • SD-R6372 toshiba, and older toshiba drives.
  • SDW-431S Lite-On

INCOMPATIBLE
  • SD-R6472 toshiba, and newer toshiba drivers.
  • ND-6500A NEC

UJ0811B panasonic
(*I don't know if it is compatible with the Toshiba*)

suggestions?

Anyone can confirm if this is compatible with the UJ-850?

GWA-4040N HLDS (dual layer)

Anyone can confirm if this is compatible with the GWA-4080N?

I would like to add more drivers to this list, so if someone has tested switching faceplates with some of the drivers above or others not mentioned here please be free to post.
