Case colors and other miscelaneous questions...

I'm really considering an alienware for college, and I really want the conspiracy blue. Problem is that I don't want to fork over the extra cash for the larger screen. Will the other colors be in the smaller screen setting soon? The saucer silver isn't bad, but I really dig the blue.

Also what would be minimum option upgrades I'd want to be able to play Halo with ease?
Thanks yall

TP,
Well first off...If I'm not mistaken, AW will not be offering the 15.4" screen chassis in any color except the Saucer Silver. Don't quote me but I think I remember hearing that on their forums. It has never been before to my knowledge either.

Secondly, to play Halo (which is a poorly optimized Port that does not run very well on many PC's...desktop or laptop...at a UXGA resolution) I'd get 1gb of RAM and the 60gb/7200rpm drive. The extra RAM never hurts and the faster drive will help you with any paging that Halo may have occuring.

Best of luck! And let us know if you have any other questions.

I don't mean to help you with your "english english", but my inferior version of english tellith that rapscallion is spelled with a "p" and not a "b".

Not that I ever really care about spelling, grammer, or proper english.

Here's my two options so far

Area 51M
Pentium 4 3.0 ghz
512 mb PC 3200 2 dimms
60 gb 7200
15.4 in. saucer silver
$2412

or

Sentia
Pentium M 1.6 ghz
512 mb PC 2100 2 dimms
60 gb 7200
Conspiracy Blue
$2165

I like the idea of longer battery life found in the sentia because I plan on using my laptop in class and at the local starbucks for homework many times. The only games I plan on playing are starcraft, counterstrike, and maybe Call of Duty. The sentia obviously fits my educational needs, but the Area 51M completely salavates my gaming needs. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thankyou!

I'm not from the UK, but I have met a ton of friends from England through soccer and life. They keep me on my toes...

Have and "Old Peculier" on me... ...and for those who don't know Theakston, this is the only way to spell Peculier.

I've gotta say, the English do know beer and soccer

I agree with you 100% on salavating over the the Area-51! (Gamer) I will eve throw in a Tim the tool-man grunt with that.

If the only games you play are the ones you listed, Tthe Sentia will handle those games with EASE. I find that COD is a better test on the Sentia's abilities since it is heavier. I downloaded the available demo's and ran them with no problems.

The 7200 RPM HD will be a drain on power if battery life is something you are looking for.

It sounds like its just a matter of Battery life. You may want to consider 1x512mb so you can upgrade for a reasonable price. Also a 2.8 may give you more battery life on the a51m, and save you a few more bucks. I'm not real sure how much extra life it will give. Personally, I would go with the a51m, but, battery life and weight are not something I am worried about.

Halo is a sucky program.

The game was designed for the XBOX, and ported for use witha PC which was done badly...

So is there much of a performance difference between the P 2.8 and the P 3.0? Also, one of the things that attracts me to the Area 51M is the upgradeability. I remember reading that this technology might soon appear in the sentia. Does anyone know anything about htis?

If you want to game and have good battery life, I would check out one of the Voodoo's with a centrino processor.
This may be more of a question than a statement, but this weekend I did some patching to my Father-in-laws brand new Centrino laptop. Granted it was a Toshiba, however it did not strike me as a "gaming processor."

So would you really want to game on a Centrino? I just can't imagine this thing running KOTOR, or BF1942. Maybe you guys know better?!?

Bloody soccer- its football! I dont get why american football is like rugby (e.g. not exactly a LOT of foot contact..i know some kicks but alot of holding and running is most of it..)...british football is based on a ball that is always kicked around using your foot...surely this makes more sense?! lol

Americas cool, but sometimes alot of stuff you see and hear does tend to make you think they are "up themselves" abit...i like america, ive been over quite a few times...but id rather live in australia than anywhere in the world...possibly singapore....
