OK guys, I want a list of how your M1210 is performing.

Here is the link to Super Pi.

http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=36

For me, Super Pi to 2 Million digits gives me 1 minute, 11 seconds at best. (after fresh install)

3DMark 2005: 1999 3D Marks (before fresh install)

the winxp mce is a clean reinstallation w/ all dell's drivers. I did not interrupt the installation like you did, though, because I thought that was part of the update rollup 2 thing.

The add and remove program menu shows there are only sonic software update and espn motion installed in my computer. There are also some MCE movie/music samples too in my share folder, but other than that i don't see other junkwares.

(And i think those movie/music samples and espn motion come with MCE default anyway. Check this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=59509.)

I actually just did a reinstall, without interrupting the installation at any point.

I noticed the same installed stuff as you, and removed them.

I ran Super Pi before installing ANY drivers, and pulled a 1 min, 26.

I then installed the Dell System Software and pulled a 1 min 15 seconds.

I'm now going to install the rest and see how it goes.

is your video card overclocked?

Yes it is. I belevie the clocks were 481 cpu and 983 mem. The auto overclock didn't seem to do anything for me. It was stable all day yesterday at those clocks, not sure how much higher it will go.

I also leave my antivirus running, wireless going and everything else when doing benchmarks just for my own "real world" numbers.

But... just for giggles I did some more tweaking and shutdown some stuff just to see how high I could get the numbers. I'm at work now so I don't have exact numbers, but here's about what they were:

It looks like mine doesn't like to throttle up correctly on battery power. Plugged in I'm getting 1m 18s SuperPi to 2mil. Downloading 3dMark05 now.

Looks like the e1405 is a little faster on average... Weird.

I just ran the super Pie test. 35 seconds. Bitchingly good chocolate my friends, bitchingly good chocolate..

Just ran super PI to 2M digits on my M1210 before reloading the OS. Comes out to 1min, 17sec.

That's not bad it seems, although the thing is running VERY hot while idling (44C).

We'll see if reloading the OS will change either of these values in a bit...

Is that really all that hot? It really doesn't sound too far off from what you'd expect.

Edit: Edited

I get 1 minute 11 every time I run Super Pi with the same processor you have. The KEY to getting that score is to reinstall and make SURE to install the following in this order:

1.) Intel Chipset software.
2.) Dell System Software (this is important - adds support for Core Duo among another things!!)
3.) Video card drivers (the test hangs for some reason otherwise, and heck, you need them anyway!)

Just finished reinstalling the OS and all the drivers. I'm getting 1m11s as well, now.

Yes, the radness is all in the 6 - 10 seconds we're saving by being able to calculate pi to 2 million digits. Good thing my computer can do it, 'cos I am teh suck at math. Really though, I'm just happy to see my computer running faster than its original factory settings. Makes me feel like an over-achiever.
