Wow, 100 replies on this thread, 101 with this one. Just thought I'd point that out, since that rarely happens.

Thanks, redundant, for the clarifications. You seem incredibly experienced...or you just use lots of buzzwords, but in either case, you know what you're talkin about.

The fans with HT should probably be running less as I would think that splitting the work among "two" CPUs would take SOME strain away?

When HT soft. comes out you should see at least SOME increase in heat. The processor is being used more, so it's only normal to except a bit more heat. Shouldn't be too much though. Maybe 1 degree.

Cheers.

What are some HT-enabled apps that everyone would know about? Just curious as to what has been swinging with the new technology.

There's still only one CPU, and it's being used twice as much for the same amount of time.... so that's not why... I'd think it's because it's more efficient.

I'm not sure which programs specifically... but I'll tell you I'm getting it for it's multi-tasking capabilities! Doing many things at once and getting no slowdown is awesome.

That's probably what I would use it for as well. I'd turn it on when I'm at work and then disable it when I'm gaming.

I don't know why you're want to disable it... not worth it in my opinion...

Well it's a pretty simple step that just requires a reboot so it's not much of a hindrance. It goes along the same lines as overclocking your gpu...it doesn't make all that much a difference but it's pretty easy to do (when kept at safe values) or disabling all running background apps...In the end all these little steps add up to a few more fps that we all crave

Actually, I've seen increases in performance with HT enabled in games, primarily because I'm the server all the time. I even ran a dedicated server and played the game at the same time... (the game is battlefield of course, lol). I wrote about it in the 8887 review. Great experience :-)

I'm not saying it's hard to disable it... I'm saying, why would you want to? It helps!
