Replacing Motherboard. Help Needed.

Thread Starter
I just got off the chat with Dell support and they said that they would send me a new motherboard because I had a loose connection in my headphone jack that would make sound inaudible through the left earbuds. They originally told me to send the system to their depot but I told them I couldn't spend time away from my laptop (pin-mod and GTX upgrade). Anyways, I was wondering if all I do is swap out the motherboards and reflash back to the xps BIOS or if I need to reinstall any drivers. Also will I need to try to find the optimal undervolting voltage for my CPU or is that chip dependent.

I woudln't worry about it, I've had dell guys work on my laptop all the time, even with all the mods. In fact I had a guy come in here today, and he thought my laptop was an XPS to begin with, mostly because of my shield.

Us Dell Field techs are not the warranty police. We are obligated to replace the parts Dell has dispatched and verify that the system is functioning to the user's satisfaction....at least that's what my Employer says I'm supposed to do. I really don't care if you've pin modded your CPU or changed your video card or swapped to a different BIOS. If you figured out how to do these things, obviously you're smart enough to not bork anything whilst doing them. Now, if you tell Dell you need a new motherboard, and when I arrive I see that someone has decided to play smashy smashy or burnination I won't attempt to fix the machine.
