hey guys, you know the systems properties box, the speed in Mhz keeps changing, sometimes it says 797 mHz, 1.99 GB of ram
that 797, will change to another number, can i pelase get all information about how/why this speed keeps changing. i have a Pentium M 2.0 ghz processor (760)

Its your pentium M processor. They have something called Speed Step which makes them swich speed depending on how heavy your CPU useage is at the moment. It helps save battery and keep temperatures down.

Theres been a million threads on this.

it is normal since u have Enhanced Speed Step technology - meaning pretty much that the CPU is being throttled up/down to manage battery power
if u want it to run at full clock, check ur power properties and set it accordingly

thanks to both of u....ummm what are both of your reccomendations? should i run my cpu at full throttle, or let it manage itself? i mainly sue my notebook for word/powerpoint documents, website surfing, i every now and then hook up my external harddrive, adn watch movies etc..

there is a little free tool (RMClock) that might fit ur need of accessing full power when needed.

umm, i do not wanna adjust anything yet, until i am informed

Just let it do it itself. Nothing you described requires full power.

twlight, i see in ur sig that u have overclocked ur cpu/gpu..... what speed is ur cpu wen its overclocked?

I dont overclock my CPU. You cant overclock a PM without a bios that supports it. And currently only the sager 5720 bios supports it.

I overclock my video card, thats it.

Also, what you described does not need full power to your CPU. Why would you want to risk breaking it by getting power out of it that you'd never use?
