You know there is a reason Dell went with the P4 on their Ixps.
The reason they prolly chose the P4 is because of the "speed" of the chip. When you stick a average consumer in front of 2 diffrent computers one that is 1.7ghz and one that is 3.4ghz that consumer will likely choose the faster system regardless of benchmarking numbers.
True the XPS is geared towards gamers, but that doesnt mean the centrino platform isnt for games. I myself am a gamer and I would NEVER buy a laptop with a P4-M or P4 chip in it. It just seems like a perfectly good waste of a laptop. If i wanted something with that kind of power i'd might as well just buy a Shuttle Mini computer and a LCD screen. The point of a laptop is that you dont have to be teathered to a wall outlet in order to do tasks. The centrino platform was designed to maximize preformance and battery life.
IMO the games with the GPU bottleneck are the games where Frames Per Second is most important and most critical. The games you have mentioned dont really have a mulitplayer component that is critical that you need the most FPS. Your not going to be flying a 707 against an opponent trying to out frag em with every FPS counting so you can bunny hop across the sky now are you?
Centrino not a gaming platform because is not as fast as a p4 is just redicilus reasoning. You might as well compare a AMD Athlon witha P4 and since the p4 is faster the Althon isnt a gaming platform. Or how about a Athlon 64 compared with a P4 since the 64 is faster the P4 isnt a gaming chip now. If this were true you better tell all the hard core gamers who play on these that they better upgrade to a Athlon 64 since they arent playing on "gaming" machines anymore.
