thought this would be kind of interesting to see what everyone is getting with the vista performance rater. i rated two machines.

i6000 with 1.6PM/1gb and vista display driver(x300 128mb):

e510 with 3ghz 630/1gb/int gfx( runs aeroglass fine, takes 50mb ram):

very interested to see what some of the neweg core duo machines are getting!!!

from rig 2, specs in sig. Still runs vista fine though. Whats the highest you can get, a 5?

from what i read, it will be an ever-going increasing scale.

as software becomes more demanding, higher numbers will be added. software will have the number on the side. this really dumbs it down for the consumer. but i guess something had to be done as clock speeds just dont matter anymore. bravo MS.

i got a 2 when i first installed, then i clicked on "refresh my rating now" and baam, up to 3. your system should be clearing 3 too!

i also notice that since the e510 is dual channel, it recieved a much higher score, almost 5!!! my 6000 has 1gig SC, and it got lower.

come on guys, post these things i wanna see some high ones!

wonder if anyone can see my thread

i bet with the right drivers and such, we both would have 4's? seems to be constant HD activity on my 5400 in my 6000. def. a noticable lag in vista on my system.
so, are the scores out of 5? i assume they are, since getting 3 out of 10's would be pretty bad, and those systems dont look that bad. i havent had a chance to install my copy of vista beta2. i was going to put it onto this old desktop (1.7GHz, 768MB RAM, 80GB HDD), but when I was trying to see what was wrong with the fan in the power supply (it was making a lot of noise), i took it apart, messed up the fan by losing a piece that holds it in place, then accidentally shorted out something in the PS (when i plugged it back in, the lights in my room dimmed and i saw smoke start to come out of the PS) and it fried. now, i need to go find another one to replace it. until that time, no vista fiddling for me.

does anyone think i should just find a cheap laptop drive, pop it into my 700m and install it on that to play with it? is it worth it?

I would like to see what mine would be on my M1710, I just don't feel like loosing so much functionality on my new laptop by installing it lol.

I have pretty much the same config as you, except my drive is a 5400rpm 100GB and I have 2x512 RAM. My memory score is 5.9 but everything else is the same; I got a 3 overall.

I haven't noticed any lag running Vista with all the bells. Did you do an upgrade or fresh install?

CoD, CoD2, AoE2 - no issue - watch out for tweaking the GPU driver, ATI and NVidia have specific driver for VistaBeta. still the native VistaBeta AGP driver works just as good.

cheers ...

i dont know what the highest score is as of now. but the way it works, as software gets more demanding, and hardware gets faster, more numbers will be added. so maybe the scale goes to 5 now, in 2 yrs it may be up to 20!

it seems laggy is all. someimtes the HD gets going so hard i think it will explode

sometimes when opening control panel it takes that little green bar crap 3 minutes to get all the way done, JUST TO DISPLAY THE ICONS IN THE CP?

programs (winamp, trillian) load SUPER slow.

the harddrive cycling does it on both laptop 5400, and desktop 7200. the desktop has a much more streaming feel to it. but they both still lag at times.

I would post mine for my I8000, but installation left me without native resolution, without a network adapter and without sound. So needless to say, Vista was removed and Ubuntu went back on.

vista on an 8000? hmmm interesting.
i'm dling vista right now. Is it easy to backtrack to win xp if I don't like it?
vista did not detect my 7800 go, so I had 1 on the graphic score, but was around 4 for the rest.

Could someone with the m1710 post a Vista Performance test.. would be nice to see.
