Ok guys, I really need some help. I would like to purchase a desktop system, but I dont know whether I should buy a GeForce⢠FX 5950 Ultra 256MB 8x AGP w/DVI & S-Video or a ATI RADEON⢠9800 XT 256MB 8x AGP w/DVI & S-Video. Also whats the difference between regular CPU and Prescott. And one more thing, do omega drivers really make a difference in fps for games such as Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Thank you so much for your help.

I have this memory installed in my Inspiron 14R. 6gb (one 2gb & one 4gb). Great performance! I highly recommend Kingston.

1st question: Go with the ATI chip, as from what I've read it should perform better than anything nVidia has.
2nd question: I have no idea.
3rd question: Omega drivers are simply regular ATI Catalyst drivers modded for mobile chips. They will make games run better only if the drivers contain code to make the games run better on the chip.

honestly I see more people argue over these two types of vid cards... Its like Chevy and Ford if you ask me.... Im a chevy truck gal myself.... and yes being born into chevy probably makes me biased.... but ive drove enough fords over the years to know I hate rattling.... As far as raidons go I hear they work sweet when everything goes right, but I have seen more people return them than any other on desktop units... two top reasons I hear is hardware incompatibility and that they are a hassle...
Personally I have two MSI geforce cards that work like a dream and very easy to instal, I have a msi capture card that I had for almost 3 years that just died but I work my machines 24/7 and it worked great the whole time it installed ok but installing drivers was a lil picky on win2kpro, I replaced that just the other week with a eVGA 5200fx personal cinima and honestly would have got the msi 5600fx personal cinima if anyone in this valley would have carried them, I put this card on the winxppro machine, it seamed to install ok but turned out it wouldn't capture , we uninstalled all the drivers and ports blah blah blah but it wouldn't capture, so as a last resort we reformated and reinstalled winxppro then loaded the personal cinima and now it works fine... we installed an eVGA on a computer we made for my huns mom and turned out it wasn't compatible with her mobo after alot of digging so replaced it with a generic geforce card we had laying around and no problem...
all in all my sugestion would be to go try different cards and see which one you like....
